Description This is my newest mask. I have some lovely pebble texture tools for leather, and this is the first time I've tried them. Black and Gold and Venice is still very much in my head.
Mmmm scrolly decadence.

Beautiful contrast between the smooth gold and pebbly black!

The contrast between the black and gold, the texture and glassy smoothness - I think this is wonderful and very striking. It looks to me as if the gold is a cage to keep the blackness contained - the texture on the black parts makes them glisten with an almost organic quality.

Fabulous work!

Wow. You write fabulous descriptions.
The glittery texture was an unforseen bonus of the glossy finish, and I really like the way it catches the light.

There's something rather malevolent about the blackness I like it!

Heheh.. This always happens. I attempt to make a pretty mask and it ends up being slightly malevolent. I should attempt a malevolent one, it may end up being pretty!

I love how the swirls aren't quite symmetrical, too - it makes it really really interesting in a wonderful way

That was kind of a happy accident. I had drawn out different versions of the pattern on each side of the template I was using, had decided which one I was going to go with, and intended to flip the pattern over when I was transferring it to the leather, so that it would be symmetrical. Then I stood back and looked at the two different sides of the pattern together and they worked so well as an asymmetrical design, that I did that instead.
