The colours worked really well here, and I'm pleased with the symmetry of this design.I think as artists we all make pieces that don't quite turn out the way we expect, and this is one of mine.

A majestic piece, this one - I think one of the best things about your masks is that simply looking at the mask itself, you can see a whole costume unfurl from it.

Yes - something in light and drifting blue and silver-white silks, ornamented on the bodice part with a froth of pearls and lace.

Aha! Thank you. I think that's where I got the idea - but the original design was more elongated, like ripples. When I cut and shaped the leather, it took on a life of its own (as it always does) and decided that it was going to be a lot rounder and less flowing than I had planned.

I don't know why, but this mask looks really comfortable... It looks a whole lot like a very thick version of the snowflake weave.

Thank you. I find that the leather masks that I make are a lot more comfortable than the papier-mache ones. Probably because leather is warm and still allows your skin to breathe.

It totally depends on what is required of the mask. Leather is very comfortable to wear, but the options for decoration are limited to what you can do with leather paints and dyes - and carving tools. Papier-mache can be more rigid and uncomfortable to wear than leather, but the options for decoration are endless in comparison. (You could not finish a leather mask with a crackle glaze, for example.)

This I don't know. I've never tried to make a mask out of wood - or wear one. I would imagine that if you can get one that fits well, it would be very comfortable, as wood is warm and organic, like leather. It might be heavy to wear though.

Hm, I've seen a couple wooden masks, but most were two faced Native American masks.

I think it's a nice comparision to Winter Frost; the lines are more defined here so it looks more angular. It's very symmetrical and smooth... I like it
