When secrets are all you have (or think you have), you’ll put up with a lot to keep them.

Gaster is bluffing about euthanizing him - he’s actually worked very hard and wants very much to keep Sans alive, not that Sans knows that, but he’s irritated that Sans is being stubborn (where could he have got that from!) and difficult for no reason, as far as he’s concerned. He already knows Sans can see, what's the point of him trying to hide it? All just a waste of time! Like he said, he’ll find a way to get the information regardless , it’ll just take longer.
He's also still disturbed about how he was even able to heal Sans before - what better way to get rid of unnecessary feelings than by being as much of a jerk as possible? Might want to hide the first aid kit before you tell someone you don't care if they die or not, pal.
(Gaster all “i’m concerned about you developing emotional problems *IMMEDIATELY CAUSES EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS*”)

One neat thing is that with this installment, the very second handplates comic I ever did has now been brought into the main timeline! I’m sure it’s not a big deal to most but I think that’s pretty cool, haha. Who knew it’d ever come this far?

Probably because when zarla explains things in the description of the newer pages, there's always some older pages linked to help us understand what she means. And most of us ( like me ) will go read them. So yeah.

Dear Zarla,

I am a HUGE fan of your comics and have been following it for a while now. I was wondering if you would give me permission to create a fanfiction of a small continuation of some of the vision scenes. If you do not want me to do this, I completely understand. Thank you for reading,

~Ary

I can't stop thinking about the interlude Zarla made with Sans stabbing Gaster to death and both him and Papyrus were happy about it during this session when I read this.

Did the continued emitter sessions result in Sans's ability to "shortcut"?  If not, how did he get that ability?  When and how did he start figuring it out?  He'd be able to take Papyrus through shortcuts, too.  Heh, a teleporting Sans could be a real nightmare for Gaster.

not really, gaster could very easily traumatize him to the point the sole mention or thought of shortcutting would render sans near catatonic/ in a mental breakdown, like he did with the blue magic

Or even completely remove the ability to teleport, if gaster fail to see how that could benefit him

Gaster would have to catch Sans first.  Sans is smart, good at keeping secrets, good at waiting for the right opportunity, and he keeps fighting Gaster every chance he gets, despite every attempt to break him.  Traumatizing Sans out of teleporting might be difficult, since Sans doesn’t need Papyrus to help him with it and it doesn’t involve confrontation (like blue magic) - it’s all about escaping.  Anyway, Gaster would probably hesitate to destroy the ability or traumatize Sans out of it, since it could be a way past the barrier for all he knows. More likely he'd try to find some way to chain Sans down.  Even if he wanted to remove Sans's power, Gaster is messing with forces he doesn't completely understand - this is all experimental, so he'd have to figure out how the teleporting works to even start making a device that could destroy the ability.  Not saying Gaster can't figure out ways to deal with it, but it would certainly cause him plenty of headaches.  And Gaster is keeping Sans and Papyrus secret, a fact that Sans has already deduced - just blowing his cover would be a nightmare for Gaster.

The main point is that Sans teleports in Undertale, so I wondered how/if this AU would explain that.

Not really, sans stamina is extremely low, and even a single magic attack (firing a single blaster) leaves him sweaty and tired, as we have already seem, if he developed the hability, it would start low at first, like any other hability, even if he actually managed to exit the labs, recapturing him would be easy

Gaster is terribly powerful here, esily a mach for an adult full-developed sans, and here, sans is a kid with self-steem issues who dont trust his own capabilities at all and a magic in developement still, he cant go against gaster or flee from him, thats the entire point of handplates really, it would be another try to scape, interesting to see, but with little to 0 chances of success

Destroying is easier to create, is far easier to removoe an arm from someone, that making him grow a third arm

If gaster knows enough to actually made them develop new abilities from thin air, he should be able to supress them or control them with less time and effort, in my humble opinion

i think he gets his ability to teleport and his awareness of timelines far in the future.

Well, they do escape somehow in Momplates, and for all his weakness, Sans would have killed Gaster during the escape attempt had Papyrus not intervened, and he does shove Gaster into the core in one storyline.  Gaster is strong and smart, but he isn’t all-powerful or all-knowing, and he makes mistakes. Or course Sans's ability would develop slowly, and Sans would be careful not to tip his hand too soon.  Once escaped, Sans could keep teleporting when Gaster tries to retake them, though Gaster would surely put his mind to developing ways to beat the teleportation powers. Gaster would search frantically, trying to develop a cage that can hold them, terrified the boys would tell their stories, trying to come of with stories that more convincing than theres.  There’s be a struggle, which is what makes for an interesting story.  For me, the point of Handplates has been to explore how Sans and Papyrus developed into the awesome, closely-bonded brothers they are in Undertale with their different strengths and weaknesses, not to see how an all-powerful Gaster tortures the two hopeless victims today.

For the record, I have no problem with Sans developing his ablities later.   Maybe the abilities are latent for a long time. I don't know.  It's just a fun idea.  There's just so many fun possibiities.

I was talking about the handplates version of Momplates, in which Toriel rescues the skelebros after they have been tortured at the lab and Gaster's still out hunting for them - this plotline:  You can trust me completely
