DOCTOR WHO! That's right, you heard me.The Seventh Doctor and Ace in "Remembrance of the Daleks". God I love these two.
Ace pretty much wins the Best Companion Ever Award in my books (Rose Tyler? Can bite me). C'mon - she carries a backpack stuffed with nitro-glycerine and beats up Daleks with a BASEBALL BAT.
Word has it that when the television industry was young and the public less jaded, monsters that looked like salt and pepper shakers were scary.
EDIT - darkened the Doc's hair.

It's an odd conundrum really. I don't like Seven at all, but Ace is ridiculously awesome.

I got into the Whoniverse through Christopher Eccleston, but I think Seven is my favourite. (although Two has rather grown on me, so it's a close one...)
McCoy really was the ultimate Doctor - buffoon, showman, great manipulator and destroyer of worlds...so much more than "just a Time Lord"!
And, of course, he had an all-purpose brolly and an Ace up his sleeve. Which just sort of bumped the awesome up a few more notches.

Yeah...David Tennant...just doesn't do it for me. I mean, he's very watchable and amusing, but I just can't muster up much affection for him.

To me, the new Doctors are trying to make an old character appeal to a new generation...and it's not really working. I cannot see the old appeal in the new doctors. They are a different character.

He was sooooo manipulative, wasn't he? Best scene with those two was when she'd blown something up, and they were smearing grime over each other's faces in an attempt to clean up. Can't recall what story, though. The one in Buck's Palace, maybe.

That was "Curse of Fenric" I think. I liked the bit in "Silver Nemesis" where they're sneaking around Windsor Castle and the Doc is going, "Just act like you own the place. It always works. We own the place!" JUST as the Queen walks by with the corgies.
