Description
This is my first portrait painting at my art school. It took me about 2 weeks and was done with acrylics on illustration board. I had so much fun doing it! I loooove painting people, oh my goodness. I have already begun my next one, hopefully it will turn out even better. The man in this painting is Bob. He was the gardener of the art school that I go to.. well, back when the school was in england. Anyway, in this painting he looks like a private investigater, about to get the "dirt" on someone. He might have to "stalk" somebody, and "soil" their name in the plant world. It is all in a days work fern the plant detective. Iris I didn't say that last pun.Related content

I thought I recognized this! Did/do you go to that one small art school up northwest of Austin, the name of which evades me? I visited that particular school once; I'm thinking about possibly going there some day. It is an amazing place.

Lots. A huge mixture of greens, purples, blues, reds, oranges, browns. The key to skin is, don't use black (I never paint with black on anything), black makes it muddy. And don't rely on brown to make shadows, that will just make the person look tanner and tanner. Use cooler colors in shadows and warmer colors in the highlights, and just expeirement and practice.
