Heh. He does! I think in a moment he will be as concerned as Rover. But in that moment of being yanked by the face into an alley, he is just plain annoyed.

Yep. Being grabbed by the face and yanked into an alley is not exactly his favorite thing of the day.

A crash in an escape pod when he was a child.

That awesome. I wonder if Rover has a false notion or something about the people he's speaking of, because Flysper is not reacting like it's a dangerous situation.

Uh oh! Looks like Rover could be overreacting. I don't see Flyspur getting put out over safety.

chill13 In reply to AlexVanArsdale [2017-10-11 18:02:25 +0000 UTC]
Could be. Flyspur is usually pretty safety conscious. Although he could also be reacting to being grabbed by the face and yanked into an alley before what Rover's bit of dialogue

He either touched something he shouldn't have or said something he shouldn't have and either way, made the exact wrongΒ sophontΒ mad (sophont is a term from something called theΒ Phule's CompanyΒ novels by Robert Asprin, though I originally found it in a MLP: FiM fanfic; it essentially means a sapient/sentient alien being, which everyone but Rover is come to think).

I haven't read them either. But they sound neat. Though I can be picky about my sci-fi; I've read some good Star Trek but my favorite sci-fi series is "The Voyage of the Daystar", a 10-book series with a Christian focus, with such topics as spiritual warfare, deconstructing "separation of church and state" (namely the fact that Christianity is the religion that gets the most flack from governments) and nonlethal persecution of Christians (some of the main characters get blacklisted from most decent careers in their field because their Christian beliefs are disliked by their superiors though fortunately the man they ultimately end up working for is a decent and accepting sort even if he doesn't understand their beliefs).

I'm betting it is a mixture of both!Β Flyspur is the last person to be squawking over anything.Β Although, they were probably having a conversation and ROVER was being the loud one when these guys suddenly showed up.

Rover is both great at making friend and making enemies.Β He can often evaluate a situation and know exactly what the person WANTS him to say.Β But sometimes he just has a big mouth and would rather speak his mind. Aaand there is the occasional shady business deal.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2017-10-10 20:04:42 +0000 UTC]
Yep.Β If fast talking can get immidiate results he can manage that.Β But if there is no solution he can see he's bound to start shouting and scolding people.Β Now he is accustomed to some slavery as it does happen now and then.Β But many slaves are not mistreated.Β Royal families for example sometimes will have some sort of slave to match their every whim.Β But they are usually well cared for.Β But wen it comes to slave trading and the kind of thing going on there.Β He's not going to stand for it for a second.

I could see him ticking off that alien species we had by trying to defend one of the weaker ones, especially if he saw a male beating up on a female, which is sadly common in their culture.Β

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2017-10-10 20:29:46 +0000 UTC]
It'd probably end badly for him since their "rule" is that you can't use weapons. If he could somehow win a "fair" fight without anything that was considered beyond what he'd been born with, everyone would be fine with it.Β

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2017-10-10 20:37:32 +0000 UTC]
Unless he is in imminant mortal danger Rover doesn't usually use his left arm in a scrap.Β He has learned the hard way that he can really hurt someone without really intending to so he will use his right arm and his weight most often.Β Β

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2017-10-10 20:40:08 +0000 UTC]
If he could win without using it, that would be considered a legit win. I could see him, by some stroke of luck, winning, then the other guy grumbles, "She's your wife now," and leaves.Β

Yep. They basically think that whoever is stronger can take whatever they want, which can, in the rare instance, include spouses. (Granted, that is kind of rare because most of them don't want a ticked off mate that wants them dead for killing her husband.)
