First in my series of British Birds.Here you may see the beautiful raven. I hope I did it justice with it's fantastic shiny black feathers

I drew this exact same raven for my Art GCSE work last week. My teacher found the photo on google images and I drew it, full body and then a close up of the head. I haven't had a chance to get photographs of it yet, dammit :S
It took me around 2 hours, equivalent of a double lesson, colour too. I will submit it on Tuesday next week when I can get my hands on it.
Oh, by the way, this is amazing, I am obsessed with ravens all of a sudden xx

And I think it is the shinyness but then again it may just be that the bird is just so frickin' beautiful regardless of how shiny it's feathers are

Great image and you have due it's 'shininess' justice although I'd have to comment on the fact that his feathers are a little bit triangular

I had a look at your pictures, you have a very good eye for composition and proportion, and you also do things in colour which is great. I keep wanting to try a colour picture I just wouldn't know where to start, as most of my art training was in graphite and the odd oil painting. Colour pencils and watercolours beckon to me but it's getting over that first step I think, and having the time and space which I just don't have right now 
I also guess it's a matter of experience in drawing these sort of things. When you don't usually draw birds it is a learning curve, which I hope to get better at! At least when I have the time to do a drawing anyway

I think this is my favourite of the 3 I have drawn so far, I think it's because it so striking, with it's deep black and white contrasts
