I can definately relate to that feeling of being broken. I actually wrote a poem at one point in time, relating myself to a glass bottle....not that it matters. But this is a brilliant piece!

Stunning work! I've always wanted to take a picture of a glass breaking.

I love this shot! I am so impressed that you were willing to put so much time into setting this up! A truly compulsive artist is beautiful! I have been strolling through your gallery and I find myself wanting to favor everything! Your Journal expressed my sentiments exactly! Too much shallow stuff on DA and not enough art that actually has time, thought and artistic talent into it. Alot of the photos have no soul!

computer cut off my comment, hate that. anyway, i thought that the bottle as it is kind of looks like it just spontaneously combusted. like the break, or hurt, came from inside and it couldn't contain it all. like how we can just keep emotions bottled up (pardon the pun) inside until they make us explode.

"tons of setup" yeah. i can tell. it's amazing. i thinki i use that word too much in commenting on your work. at first i really didn't care for the angle of the bottle and how it was positioned. then i thought th

I study photography in college, the way i belive you get a good back ground is have it possisioned away from the subject, then shine the light on the back ground, one light setup for the b/g and one for the subject.
Light /*\ Light /*\
Camera =< Subject O Background |
Obviously theres probally more ways but thats how i percive it.
Very nice shot btw.

The explanation of the setup is in the description. I forget what the exposure was. I think F16 at a 500th. Iso 200 (good, clean setting on my 1D). Everything was hung with fishing line and the water was poored from a watering bucket. Thanks so much...

that is amazing.... Its unbelievable how you get these amazing shots... i love the shards of glass inbetween the two halfs of the bottle... It takes it to a deeper level. And assuming that the bottle was once filled with vodka is symbolic too, it is truely emotional and well shot.
