Description Flying Scotsman makes itself noticed with its safety valve raised. Throughout her two preview weekends, Scotsman had to run with another engine as her air pump had failed, however she could still pull the trains. The other engine (either a Class 31 or Black 5 No.45407) would provide the braking and any other assistance, should Scotsman need it. No.60103 suffered no trouble at all.

That is a beautiful shot. The beautiful countryside, added with a true legend of an engine, it just looks magnificent.

I am overjoyed that Scotsman has finally returned. Not to mention, that safety valve will certainly get people's attention. It really makes me wish I could've been there to see Scotty run his early miles.

Thank you very much. The conditions were absolutely freezing, and even though Scotsman is facing backwards, it was all worth it in the end.

It was an incredible sight. Not just to see this world famous engine fly along but to see all the people. There were literally thousands standing on bridges and at the edges of stations, to lining the line side. The best part was, it wasn't just your normal railway enthusiasts, it was mostly the general public. There were people from all sorts of generations. I even met a couple who had flown all the way from Washington to see her steam. That's the draw this engine has. As you can guess, it was all over the national news, both tv, newspaper and the internet. Definitely a moment I'll remember forever.

Well, I'm certainly glad you got a chance to see her run. You got a chance a lot of people dream of. The Scotsman is a piece of world history that truly does draw crowds. She's a beautiful piece of locomotive history, and I look forward to seeing more of her in the future.

I completely agree. She is immensely important. Thank goodness the National Railway Museum didn't give up on her during her expensive and very prolonged overhaul. Hopefully, all is well. They did the right thing sending her to our railway. Ian Riley's works are one of the best in the country. She'll look stunning in BR Green. I hope you can come over to see her in steam.

If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely take it. I'm really looking forward to seeing her in BR Green, too.

I'm looking forward to the day when she meets Tornado. The two of them in steam will surely be incredible to witness.
