Description Here's a portrait of the character I played in a recent L5R game. The other characters all believed she was a Shinjo from the northernmost reaches of the Unicorn clan, but actually she was something quite different.

After I introduced the GM to "Naruto" he fell in love with it and subsequently realized how easy it would be to adapt analogues of the Hidden Villages into the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. This is why "Shinjo Satomi" was actually a ninja from the Hidden Sand village. (Go Suna! Sand rules!!!)

As far as the picture itself goes, this was my first recent attempt at doing a full digital painting that didn't incorporate much in the way of linework. Also it was a foray into the world of colour. Many of my previous works of art focused on blues, greens, and violets, so working in warm yellows and oranges was a bit of a learning experience. I think her feet came out a little too big, and the background could use more detail, but otherwise I'm reasonably happy with how this turned out.

Wow! This is awesome! If the feet are too big, it's not by much, and I don't think I'd have even noticed if you hadn't said something about it. The shoes look large and loose, so it looks intentional, really. I love the pose; it looks like she's ready to spring into action, like you caught her that second right before she'll move.

Also, I think the background is fine. The way it is now, it really makes the figure stand out. A more detailed background might distract the eye, really. I think this is great, and I'd never have thought you're not used to using this kind of color scheme. This is awesome. I also like the story behind it.
