My internet has been weird in the past 24 hours. Would've uploaded this sooner but the past few minutes have been my first time online all day.Also this isn't vent art. *thumbs up*
While thinking of what to draw this past month, I came up with an idea from Tomodachi Life- a Nintendo game where you play with miis in a Sims sort of format. In this specific case, Samie wanted to ask Maxime out, who was already dating Jade . When Samie invited Maxime to the cafe, he didn't even show up. So uh. Kind of got the idea from that. Don't worry, mii Samie is over him, but still... that's not a cool move to play in any case. Even if it's awkward for you.
As a kid, Amy was my favorite. Gung-ho, stylish, and feisty, I always wanted to play as her in Sonic Heroes and Sonic Adventure (albeit I was horrible back then). The only part that bothered me was her infatuation with Sonic. There's nothing wrong with a crush, but what used to be a crush turned into an OBSESSION. That's all she became as of the recent games (except Boom but I've heard that sucked) and the fandom. It makes me sad. Such a great character, wasted. Ah well, on a happier note, I never shipped Sonamy. Thought it was pointless. Sonic doesn't love Amy, and he's not romantic in the slightest. We're ignoring 06 in this case.
...To be perfectly honest, I feel like this is how Sonic would finally get his message across.
In other news, Amy's hammer has an inconsistent design. I've drawn her Boom design, which is completely different, but pretty much throughout the ages her hammer keeps changing. The design above is a mix of Archie Comic's and Sonic the Hedgehod 2006's. It's not as inconsistent as Goofy's name, to say the least (3rd paragraph).
Also, I tried to paint a thing. I don't like doing paintings. Why did I sign up for this. Okay that's enough commentary.

I completely agree with you. I always found the Sonamy pairing to be quite unhealthy and one-sided so I'm shocked to see it shipped so much! It is unfortunate that Amy's character has been bastardized to be all about Sonic. :/

I do feel Amy's affections for Sonic have been exaggerated over the years, and it's unfortunate because Amy's character can be so much more.
While I am a Sonamy supporter and hope that one day Amy is able to win Sonic's heart, I also realize that the decision is up to Sonic, and I would never support a coupling where both parties are not fully invested in each other. Yes, Sonic is not one for romance, and I'd never want to change that just to fit my wishes. If Sonic does not choose Amy, I'm sure it'll hurt her at first (or maybe a long time), but she'll get over it eventually and learn to think more clearly about love again.

Amy's actually great in the Boom TV series. Her crush on Sonic is downplayed for the most part, with only a handful of moments that draw attention to it.

I just find it irritating that Amy is the main female character of the series, taking priority over more interesting ones like Blaze. She's not funny, she's not clever, she's incredibly annoying and her shtick got real old real fast. Even the Boom incarnation is pretty bad; less annoying, but a steaming pack of air-headed lies.

I have no idea if you're being sarcastic. But regardless, it's not hard to see her as one, seeing as her appearances in the last few main games are glorified cameos at best.

I feel like she's a great character, but is executed poorly. The problem is, with Amy's creation, I think her personality was just "female". That's a problem with lots of female characters if they're partnered with a group of outnumbering males- she's cool at first but then is resorted to the love interest. If I'm right, Sonic CD was the first game she showed up in, only to be the character Sonic rescues. Everything went downhill from there. Amy's supposed to be quick-witted, powerful, and the one who gets stuff done. Unfortunately, that never happens. I'm still going to defend the Amy who's not obnoxious and obsessed. That Amy is cool. The other is Sonic Boom's Amy.
I will fight SEGA and Archie so she can be mine and I can fix what's happened

Almost every character can be summed up in one word. Amy is "female". Tails is "smart". Shadow is "fanservice". Sonic is "nothing". And so on.
It's just that most of the interesting characters are shunted aside, often by fan request, for characters that don't emote and barely do anything. Like, ANYTHING.
The only real version of Amy that I like is the Fleetway version. Tomboy, no fawning over Sonic, never really kidnapped and smart enough to save the day all on her own. Kinda based my OWN version of Amy after her.

Like Spongebob, the characters have been becoming their stereotypes. I think Sonic is more "carefree" but still there isn't much personality. Still, how the games have come out, the characters haven't had any progression. The only time any of them grow is when they learn a new technique, which... doesn't count. It's unfortunate they haven't had room to grow throughout the series. Maybe that's why the characters are stuck in a rut?
Shadow was only going to show up for one game, and when he came back, the only thing anyone got from him was his backstory. It's cool but... that's it. Dark personality and dark backstory. ???????

Shadow HAD personality. He HAD a backstory. But those were both resolved and he was left with nothing. His "appearance" in Sonic Boom sums up his only appeal; last second fanservice.
And the characters lack personality because it makes them "safe"; easy to market to as wide a focus group as possible. Probably for the best with a fanbase as...diverse as ours, but when it comes to those expecting some more mature? All we're left with is marketing stand-ins, plain and simple.
To put it simply, Sonic as a character is fighting for a cause which just doesn't exist anymore; 90's video gaming dominance. Every attempt at keeping him relevant only makes him less so, abandoning older fans and turning off newer fans who can't make sense of the rampant schizophrenia.
