British loco!!
Of course it is. All steam locos come from a British invention.
Great photograph full of steam energy.

Most of that is steam and will condense to water as rain.

1. The locomotive in Harry Potter was a 4-6-0, this is a 2-8-0. This has more drive wheels.
2. This locomotive has a knuckle coupler, the loco in Harry Potter had buffers and screw couplings (like on Thomas).
3. This locomotive has a headlight on a SILVER smokebox, where the Harry Potter locomotive had NO headlight and a BLACK smokebox.
4. This locomotive has a sand dome, the one in Harry Potter didn't.
5. This locomotive is black with a silver smokebox. The one in Harry Potter is RED with a black smokebox.
6. (Reason for all the differences) THIS ONE IS 'MERICAN! THE ONE IN HARRY POTTER IS AS BRITISH AS HARRY!

They could still use steam to power locomotives today if they wanted to. Coal burning has been made much cleaner within recent years and basically the only emission would be the steam. But diesel-electric is much more efficient and today that's what pretty much all trains run off of.

Last sentence sums it up. More efficient, less maintenance, and better at pulling heavier and longer trains. That is the reason steam went away in the 1950s and the reason why they will never come back.

Yup. But steam locomotives are still the boss to me - when it comes to looks I mean. When steam-powered trains were at their pinnacle in the 30s and 40s they were huge monsters that were so impressive looking that they were intimidating. Trains such as the Union PacificΒ American Locomotive Company 4000-class 4-8-8- which was more commonly referred to as "Big Boy". That train was a behemoth and was so cool-looking. Today, trains are still kinda cool-looking, but look nothing like what their ancestors looked, so bold and magnificent.

Awesome shot! Live steam engines do, indeed look much better steaming around on a cold winter day. Even better if it's snowing.
