I've been away for a bit, so I'm only just catching up with your work and as always I'm amazed.
I really like the whole piece, from my personal opinion I prefer the lower version due to the colors and lighting.
Well done.

One slight niggle - the water should be higher on autumn from snowmelt, and the water should be ice in winter.

wow, this is an old post; so i guess i'm just responding to anyone else reading comments on this piece.
comment on your "SLIGHT NIGGLE": water MIGHT be higher from snow (or perhaps even ICE)melt right after it melts (usually in the spring) assuming that every day was a perfect condition for keeping the water level in the same spot (this means no drying up or flooding for weather extremes) over the 6 month period between the equinoxes (hardly likely). and i say MIGHT because who knows what other type of real, empirical, scientific data affects water level there.
secondly, the water should be ice in winter if winter is and has been cold LONG ENOUGH for ice to form. what happens if snow fell on the solstice and the following day was clear, sunny and relatively warm? I don't know... maybe a body of water the way it always looks normally with snow cover on the ground??
oh, and btw... if I had a "slight NIGGLE" with this at all, i think it would have more to do with the fact that the ripples/wake/whatever in the water is identical in both "shots". Not to mention the sun is (ALMOST) identical as well... which presents a problem given the earth's titled axis and it's varied position in orbit of sun
