With the creation of the new Horizon fleet and the rebuilding after the Draken war the Dart 'Anhur Mode' finally reached its true potential. While the Peacekeeper model had many variants such as the Anchor, the Horizon Dart would incorporate many of these specialist variants into its own design. The result was a versatile and variable ship which could function as both a mainline warship capable of holding its own as well as a long range patrol craft able to respond to a variety of situations. With heavy automation assisting the crew and new advanced technologies coming to the fore in the rebuilding the Dart would be much loved by the Navy Crews who operated it. Upgunned, able to interdict enemies with its own Citadel units, increased in defensive capability and faster due to drive developments and improved FTL the vessel proved more than capable of filling its role in the Unions fleet as a workhorse able to reliably overcome whatever may be called of it. Typical battlegroups would revolve around either a single Dart leading smaller vessels or around Dart squadrons which could form the core of any fleet, able to both support, defend and attack depending on the situation. Its Mass drivers are able to throw up powerful flak walls to protect against incoming munitions or to shred enemy ships at range while plasma cannons provide a hefty up close punch. Thankfully for longer ranges the ships meson lasers and spinal mount are able to prove devastating, especially paired with its own missile complement. The Horizon model also keeps the Darts attack craft complement, upgrading it with drone Firestorm, Eagle Eye & Whirlwinds alongside a complement of traditionally manned versions from its hangar bay. On the defensive, the Dart is survivable with its MULAT armour, layered shielding and ADS system as well as its EW countermeasures. A symbol of the Union of Worlds, the venerable Dart class can trace its lineage right the way back to Humanities first contact with the Cylaurians, and will continue to endure in the far future.
