Description
On the morning of March 28, 1973, we're on the Old Fort Loops at High Fill to chase trains. Soon, we catch Southern Railway Freight train 164 on it's ascent up the grade. The train was loaded with General merchandise, LPG, Auto Parts, Woodchips, Pulpwood, etc. for shipment to Linville Yard. The power is 3 SD40's with 3 more SD40's as Mid train helpers. The first unit of the helper set is SD40 #3170. This unit is preserved at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga TN. We'll ride the Ashville Special down the grade later on.
