Description Canon Digital Rebel XSi

Season represented: Summer
What an incredible scene this was. A distant supercell updraft, lightning, and the sun setting through the rain. I think my favorite part of this image is actually the area near the vault (that light area to the right of the updraft). Just below that and to the right, you can see some really faint inflow streamers. Pretty crazy stuff! Eastern Colorado has the perfect terrain for chasing, just absolutely flat so you can see for miles. Really makes it tough to give this storm scale, but I'd say it was still nearly 10 miles away. We were pretty far away, but with a view like this, I could care less. It did produce a couple tornadoes earlier in the evening, but we arrived a bit too late to see those. Still an incredible evening with probably the craziest storm I've ever seen

Please tell me what you think!

Awesome shot and Im extremely jealous of the shots you can get out there.  Im in New York so we have way too many hills here to get photos like this and the storms dont form like the ones out there do.  Someday I wanna take a few weeks off to shoot some storms in the Mid West.

Wow what a beautiful cell and capture! I am a storm chaser myself but live in a place where they are few and far between; not to mention trees, trees and more trees! I have witnessed my fair share of storms, but nothing to this extreme. you are absolutly right you do have the perfect terrain. I LOVE how scuplted this cell is, it must of had a very strong updraft, and the fact that you managed to capture the clear slot is nothing short of epic. the sun set off on the far distance, the wall cloud hanging down, rain band and even some scud. this must of been phenomon to see! this is beautiful and by far the best i have ever seen on here! the mother ship has landed!
