Description Well, I told Kagome62 that I would see about drawing a picture of Inuyasha, and then I had sudden and magical inspiration for how to go about doing such. It was rather exciting.

Soo.. it's kinda supposed to function with two things. For one, I wanted to really use warm colors. Of course, I've done so regularly, but I haven't made it central to a picture in the way I have with cool colors. Also, I wanted it to kind of reflect my Sesshoumaru picture but in an opposite way. Or something.

... I'm trying hard to make sense, but it's a difficult task.

Yeah. So. I'm really happy with how it came out, actually. Maybe actually working on the background really does count for something.

Wow, I love the background and how you've placed Inuyasha against it. Such a firey red all around!

Thank you! At first I wasn't sure if having so much red would just be overwhelming, but I'm very glad I went with it!

This came out really well. The background bamboo is very well done. And I totally see how it goes with and is the opposite of your Sess pic. You did a great job.

Thank you very much. I was especially proud of that background... kinda weird to be more pleased with that than the foreground, though!

Thanks for commenting on how it relates to the Sess pic -- it's nice to know that what I was trying to do didn't totally miss the mark.

I have absolutely no idea. My brain is completely fried at the moment. *sigh* I think it's just because I suddenly have this glorious thing called "time"... so much of it is like being suddenly sucked into this constraintless void. Tis very weird.

lolz
isnt it a good thing to have time?
I wish i had more of it.....things happen way too fast for me.
you dont have to have anything pop into your head right away, im sure something will pop into your head soon^^

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2007-12-31 19:18:36 +0000 UTC]

It is and isn't good to have time -- while I do enjoy the break, I know that by the end I will look back and figure that I wasted pretty much all of it. *laughs* Like right now, I do have like a dozen pictures I would like to draw, but since I have so much time, I have absolutely no motivation to do them... *sigh*

Kagome62 In reply to Frotu [2008-01-01 02:02:24 +0000 UTC]

*laughs*
it happens to the best of us...
i know, i feel like i've waisted so much of my break. I could have done so much, but i decided not to
well, it is a break. You dont have to do any work, that includes art work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-01 22:36:15 +0000 UTC]

This is true... but it'd be much easier if I could convince that annoying little voice in the back of my head that not doing anything is perfectly acceptable, too. Very difficult task, that.

it can be....
because after a while it gets pretty boring. Just, do the right ammount of resting and the right ammount of -art- work ^^

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-02 10:35:44 +0000 UTC]

Waha, go figure that I would be complaining about not feeling motivated to draw and then suddenly I had inspiration. *laughs* I guess that IS how it works...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kagome62 In reply to Frotu [2008-01-05 02:47:41 +0000 UTC]

*nods*
it's hard to get inspired..
and it must be harder for you to come up with ideas because of your 100 challenge. It takes me such a long time before i actually get motivated to draw something unique. You do such a good job of putting your ideas down on paper.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-05 23:22:35 +0000 UTC]

I really don't have trouble with inspiration. It's just the motivation. That's tricky.

So far, I think I'm pretty decent with my ideas for the challenge. At least, I have enough to not have to worry about it for quite a while. I tried to go through as soon as I decided to do the challenge and get ideas for most of the things... that way, if the mood to draw suddenly struck, I'd be ready!

Kagome62 In reply to Frotu [2008-01-06 08:05:01 +0000 UTC]

hm, very smart
i do that too, it's just that i dont get motivated a lot of the time. I have to have a sudden burst of insperation. Still, i dont tend to post things.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-06 19:06:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, some inspiration is better than none at all! And at least you're drawing for yourself, even if you don't finish or post things, right?

hm, not at all
that makes sence
i guess i really should get over my fears.
But im practicing so maybe when i improve and i feel proud about my work, I'll post some stuff up

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-11 19:18:35 +0000 UTC]

Your fears are legit, so it's definitely one thing to say that you should "get over" them, and another to do so. When you're working on things like that and spend time on them, it is really hard to put them out where people might say things that aren't quite what you want to hear. It's not simple to start posting things.

I know that it was a long time before I started posting (then again, I didn't even know how to for a while...). I started at fanart-central, because there seemed to be more people at my level there. I was super scared of dA for the looooongest time. XD

Kagome62 In reply to Frotu [2008-01-12 23:31:24 +0000 UTC]

yeah, that's exactly how it is for me.
I'm no where near any of the artists out on DA, including you.
I'm starting to get better, i think, since im practing about 2 hours every night.
Hm, fanart-central?
sounds like a good place to check out.....

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-13 00:51:18 +0000 UTC]

I still look around dA and it makes my soul weep. *laughs* There are sooo many people out there that make stuff that is just made of mind splatter. The nice thing about that is that it definitely drives me... the only reason I really started drawing was because I could never make pictures of the characters in my stories. I was going to get a commission, but being the economic person I am, that ticked me off and I decided to practice until I could do it myself.

Practicing that much will definitely go a long way. I have an old notebook of art, and I drew a picture every night... by the end, there's definitely an improvement from the beginning!

[link]

I thought that was a wonderful site to use as a stepping stone up to dA. *sage nod*

how many years of practice did it take before you got to where you are today?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-20 08:30:12 +0000 UTC]

You are very welcome! I hope it's something that could be helpful!

Hmm... how many years. *taps chin* Well, I've been drawing since I was in preschool, and I've always enjoyed it. I didn't really spend much time on it until I was in 8th grade, when I got a real art pad and started messing around on more than just homework XD. Um... but I wouldn't say that I really got into it until the end of 9th grade. I had been thinking about getting a commission, but my dad raised me too economical to do that when I figured I could do it myself. So then I started practicing a lot, although I kind of was in a style rut until I got my tablet at the end of 12th grade... that's when I started trying new things and making what I think was my real progress. Still... about 5 years total that I've been all crazy? Really, I look at my first computer pictures and compare them to now and wonder how that happened. *laughs*

Kagome62 In reply to Frotu [2008-01-21 02:31:08 +0000 UTC]

good, so there's still hope for me yet!!
XD
wow, 5 years? I just started really getting into it this year, so I've fot a looooooooong way to go then....*sigh*
It'll fun seeing myself progress though, and i think i have gotten better and the hig self esteem only makes me want to try harder and harder.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to Kagome62 [2008-01-21 03:34:31 +0000 UTC]

There's hope for anybody! It just requires more for some people than others.. XD I'd say that if you just really started this year, that you're doing pretty dang good! Lessee... yeah, I probably started when I was about your age, with the last year of middle school and all that. Eee oo waah! XD

Oh yes, the progess is soooooo nice to watch. I know that I look at my old art books just to torture myself, mostly, because I remember when I thought some of the stuff was super awesome. *sigh* But that is part of it... because feeling good about your work and seeing how things change and get better definitely keeps you going. So even if you do get to a point where you look at your old stuff and go "why..." deeeefinitely keep it. It's very ego-stroking in the future. *nod*

Hair is definitely one of my very favorite things to draw. I'm glad you like it, too!
