NAME Crane
AGE Adult
GENDER Male
HEIGHT & WEIGHT 86cm & 35kg
BUILD Tall and stern in all manner of ways. Notably lithe, long legs leading to a stocky, firm chest and body, draped with wild tousled fur. His movements are graceful and elegant, but somewhat reminiscent of a lioness circling prey or a snake waiting to bite. Despite his nature, his voice is not abrasive - it is lilting and soft, occasionally dream-like.

◯ Outwardly, Crane appears no more unusual than the next wolf. He is intelligent, and easily holds conversation - in fact, his manner of speaking often encourages others to loosen their tongue, and he is often seen to impart wisdom or share his knowledge or the world. He seems charitable, usually eager to lend his help to a situation as best he can, and he has a sympathetic ear for the troubles of strangers. He is charming, unwittingly so, never intending to manipulate others into fondness of him but somehow managing to do so anyway. It would be presumptuous to say that wolves trust him easily, for it may not be true, but they rarely believe that there is anything out of the ordinary about him: that he is anything but another follower, yearning for magic and trusting that the Alva would call it forth.
◯ Crane is deeply religious, and the sermons of Kol are his salvation. Of the Kol who followed Malaysia to the north, he is one of the most devout, or so he believes - for his version of chaste devotion has long been warped and distorted. For you see... beneath his calm and collected exterior, there is a deeply troubled mind. For as long as he can remember, Crane has been able to hear other-worldly whispers, or so he believes. They have been speaking to him for many years, and they have told him many things. It did not take long to realise that confessions of voices that did not belong to bodies or faces was not well received... until Malaysia arrived and said the same. She could hear the spirits of the island. He was enamoured with her then, and as if they knew it, those whispers in his head agreed. They created in him a prophet - no, a god, perhaps, if he can enact their holy duty during his mortal time.
◯ They have given him a task, you see. It is his duty to purify unholy souls, to purge the island of non-believers and those who have turned their backs on the true way of the island. As it was before, as it must always be. Only by doing this, can he earn his place at the Alva's side in the pantheon of gods. It is here where his most devious talents become apparent: he proves to be resourceful and decietful to a fault, carefully devising plans to enact his deadly revenge on any the spirits - the voices - tell him must be purged. This makes him dangerously unpredictable, a force to be reckoned with.

◯ Born one of four children to a respected pair of Guardians, Crane was offered a sheltered and yet loving upbringing. As a youngster he soaked up as much knowledge as he could, and his thirst for that could not be contained to simply within his family. It was coincidence that led him to once day happen upon Malaysia in murmured conversation with another wolf, but if asked, Crane would assert that it was fate leading him to his purpose. What little he overhead was enough to light a spark, and he was desperate to know more. It was not long after that he first began to hear the voices: he would talk to his siblings as though it was normal, and they would fix him with strange stares, so he asked his mother, and she hushed him. It set confusion in his mind, and after a while, he decided that he would not share them anymore. Perhaps they were only meant for him, anyway. Perhaps he had a special purpose.
◯ Life continued on as normal, but all the while, the voices had been pushing and moulding Crane's young and impressionable mind. He sought audience with Malaysia whenever he could, showed great interest in others who followed her, and listened carefully as her promises of magic and godhood wound a spell around him. It was said she heard voices too, but she carried them effortlessly. She said it was the island, that it was showing her it's will. This fascinated him, for he still struggled in the prison of his own mind. Where before the voices had been quiet whispers, now they screamed, thundered in his ears and pulsed in his blood. He did not know how to control them, and he was too afraid to speak of them again, so in time he became a slave to them instead. They took him, wholly and completely. By the time he was a juvenile, his mental state was already far past saving. The crusade had already begun.
◯ Secrecy did not keep him forever, and when his mother discovered that her son held such a morbid interest in the red witch and her lies, she forbade him any future contact. Magic was not the natural way, and Malaysia was a lunatic. Her words wounded him deeply, but he was silent, resigned to a lesser fate below his family and their influence. That night as his family slept, Crane watched the skies. Somewhere in the depths of his mind, the spirits bestowed upon him his first target. An unworthy soul. His mother.
◯ While many would struggle to bring themselves to condemn their own blood, Crane accepted the spirits' word without question, resolute in his servitude. Malaysia would lead them to Godhood, and in refuting her, his mother had sinned. Blood would not spare her. Blood would liberate her. Opportunity knocked in the arrival of man. In the chaos that followed as Malaysia rushed the beach with her followers, Crane sought only his mother, seperating her from the pack with a false claim that his father was in danger before wrapping his teeth around her throat. In the struggle, she tore at her attacker, slicing his eye - an act that would later leave him half blind, but not an act that would deter him enough to release his grip. Eventually, she weakened, and fell limp in his jaws. With that, she would be at peace. His mother's soul was absolved of sin.
◯ Now on the cusp of young adulthood, Crane parted from his family without so much as a farewell. Not to his father, his sisters, his brothers. Every connection he felt on the mortal plane had been severed, besides Malaysia, and it was her he followed as the newly formed Kol vanished into the horizon.
◯ As Crane watched from the north, Tundes floundered. Death, pestilence, the moon turning red in the sky: and the culmination of their defiance, the death of the Alpha Osirus, and the subsequent division of the pack that was once whole. The voices told him later that it was all part of their plan, their prophecy. They drew the faithful toward the oak and the temple, then set about the task to purge the island of sinners. But there was only so far they could reach, and they required missionaries on the ground, who could enact their wishes. Go, they told him. Make sure they are true. If they are not, then release their soul. Do this, and you will be a God.
