Description

So this one took a little longer to get out to yall, but I believe it's worth it. I rly had a blast (both in "fu¢£ yeah!" and "wanna blast my brains out" kinda way) redesigning this guy, and I'm quite proud of how he came out (it even matches the month❥).

But now without further or do, let's get it into it Ben's Orishan form: Riptide! (not the one from Vence Joy)

1st off: the Biology

Originally from the paradise planet of Kiusana form the Adromeda galaxy, these bipedal aquatic based crustacean like lifeforms are one of 2 primary intelligent species of the planet (the other one is yet to be revealed). They mostly resemble Earth's lobsters, with thick red armor plating on their backs, head, claws, limbs, etc and a soft durable skin on their bellies. They've got a claw like arm anatomy, but with extra fingers and a movable thumb claw for a better grip. Their shells are also deemed to be the most powerful natural shells in their galaxy (even more powerful then Talpaedan's armor). But what their mostly known for is their most known ability: "hydro-irruption".

They are able to control and even shoot water from their own bodies. They do that by absorbing moisture from their environment either through their hypersensitive skin or by straight up drinking it. Then, the water will store these special vein like canal system that spreads across their entire bodies that they came to call Aguariya. Aguariya is essentially a storage unit in a form of biological drainage system. Orishan use it as a breathing apparatus so they can travel up on the surface without suffocating (since they only have gills). Inside their bodies, Orishans body temperatures can reach up to 125°C (257°F), which literally boil the water inside Aguariya, creating bubles  that they'd then breathe through their gills. But the fun part comes where the situation get's dangerous for Orishans.

When in danger, the adrenaline in their blood will automatically increase their body temperatures. The temperatures would then boil the water inside and build pressure, that is then released through their exhaustion ports (located on their palms) to blow a hot pressured water out like a Geyser.

They can do it manually too, but they must be careful to not build the pressure inside for too long, since it can harm their whole Aguariya to a point of not being able to leave the ocean.

They are also equipped with a shrimp like tail that they use for faster swiming and their signature hydroejection, when they'd swim so fast to jump out of water like a shark only to then blast themselves away with their hydro-irruption (like a fly board).

They are resistant to high temperatures, but the cold temperatures are the ones that get them. That is why they avoid swiming in the planet depths, out of fear of freezing.

Another weakness is well, their exposed skin on their stomach, chest and ESPECIALLY the neck, since it's an easy target for predators. But thanks to their level 3 technology, they developed a hood like armor that many would use as a protection, with additional battle mask and chest plating, tho it can be owned only by the best hunters. Which doesn't ruin other's lifes, they just gotta be more careful.

Now for the 2nd part: the SOCIETY:

Paradise planet Kiusana is a small planet that's 79% covered in oceans with a deepest depths reaching down to only around 70m (229feet) deep. The oceans themselves are beautiful and filled with different underwater alien plants and wildlife, with ocean floor beign covered in underwater volcanos. The lands on the other hand is also ful of topical forests, thus giving the planet a universal "paradise" nickname.

It influenced the planet so much so that Orishans started working as tour guides and created special underwater volcano spa resorts with access to Kiusana's best beaches with all sorts of tourism.

Orishans themselves tho are actually hunters and scavengers that either hunt in water or travel on land for resources.

And lastly and 3rd: THE DESIGN

So... This design as many could already tell is quite different compared to the original.

Its one of the redesigns that I took the most liberty with and for a good reason. I love the original with those big shoulder pads and the OV redesign was amazing too, but I really wanted to explore the crustacean aspects of it more. With this one I learned more to lobsters and shrimps just cuz they'd fit their new powerset better while still giving them some weaknesses.

Other than that I love he turned out but lemme know ur thoughts, opinions or any questions u might have. U can ask  anything u wanna know about this guy, the overall series or literally anything u're interested about, I love chatting with the community but either way, have a great one and keep on rockin fandom! 🤙💫
