this wasp is alone, not only in subject but in color. we do not often isolate insects or truly understand their colonial nature however this one was truly alone..he was stuck in my window - this made me have trouble selecting a category to put this piece in cause i dont see drawing and painting to be entirely different by medium and technique its something much deeper, this was taken by photo and then drawing and digitally editing its more of a mixed media painting if you will. so its a "digital painting" because it looks almost like a "painting" but i call it a drawing in my own mind...anyways im insane...enjoy - its my tribute to a graceful prisoner.Related content

hey dude, thanks for the fav, and im glad you like the lines because i wasnt sure if it should be horizontal or vertical but i think the vertical gives the wasp a better sense of life because its sort of clinging.

i said it was a prisoner, i killed it in the worst way possible - i kinda wish i was able to just spray it but it was stuck between the window and the screen i dont even know if its dead yet - it will just keep slamming itself against the screen to get out until it dies from exhaustion

hahaha i really dont like many kinds of bees or wasps the kind i hate most are africanized honey bees...fuck they're worse than wasps...at least wasps venture further away from the nest in smaller numbers. african "killer bees" im sure you know about them - they swarm after people by the thousand and can have as many as half a million bees in a large sized common nest.

meh, again as i say none of the wasp is original but if it offends anyone i'll just redo it with no original photo - i dont understand categorizing art (i'm not argueing with you, i think you're completely right actually) its just a product of being an art student in a school where there are no boundaries even in the curriculum where i no longer define paintings by having used paint, drawings by using pen/pencil or even photos by using film. (i know that sounds weird, obviously a photograph is a photograph i think what i meant is that there are photos which look more like drawings than photos) blah im all confused. bottom line is i think you're right, i just cant categorize things that arent very straight forward

hey, sorry if i seem rude or anything im in a strange mood lately and im just trying to organize my thoughts - nice gallery btw i like the way you draw you characters. theres hard lines and theres a seeming ridigity to it however they flow - nice

if you guys are wondering why theres a digital camera info thing - its because the background textures were taken from the window sill with the wasp - and the placement of the wasp - i then proceeded to draw over and edit, so its like a photo manip but not really because none of it is original except for some of the smears of yellow/blue
