Description Gosh, I'm so amazingly creative in thinking up titles for these things..

Anyhow! This is the thing I referred to when I wrote about posting something I hadn't taken pictures of for a long time.
I think I must've about finished this somewhere in the beginning of January. And I figured that perhaps people would be interested in seeing it. So here goes!

And actually; Damn, I believe I -am- rather very pleased with this thing. I somehow havn't been giving it too much attention after I was done with it, but I do have the idea that I think it's actually a rather very nice thing after all.

Technical information:
It's thick hard leather lined with soft leather to add comfort.
It took a long time, don't bother about the details.

Detail shot coming up sometime soon!

Wow, this really works. Β Lots of detail but it doesn't come across as noisy. Β It first hits you just as great texture, and then when you look closer the details and smaller structures come out. Β I like the lines (cuts) breaking out of the individual panels in the center of the chest. Β It's also obvious the huge amount of work you put into this when I start looking at each individual panel. Β I love this.

This is beautiful. I was looking at armour for women and getting annoyed at all the chainmail bikinis and then suddenly... this. Just... this. It's amazing!

I wish I could get this for my wife, but I don't have the $6-700 (base) that it'd be worth...

Very nicely done...

how much would it be to get one made?

Lynfir In reply to PencilMermaid [2013-05-05 20:37:30 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately I currently don't take commissions.
However, this costs quite a lot of work so it would be rather expensive I'm afraid.

Hello.
Maybe. I'm quite reculant to part from it, as it took me about a month of intense work to make it.
But if people would want to discuss a serious offer for it I'm willing to listen.

"Segmentary planescape travelling armor/schematic"... maybe? Meaning that the thing is actually a trans-dimentional travelling map, which is only activated when a Navigator puts it on and concentrates on the journey's destination...

Anyway, it looks great!

You're welcome.

Just HOW many hides of leather did you use to make that armor?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lynfir In reply to pixiequeen28 [2013-01-21 16:18:14 +0000 UTC]

Um, not so many, really. Some of one hide. The panels are all leftovers.

strg-alt-entf [2012-10-25 22:23:58 +0000 UTC]

Hey, how do you do the pattern?
Do you do it with a hammer and iron, you rub it into the leather, or do you do it differently?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lynfir In reply to strg-alt-entf [2012-10-28 20:07:53 +0000 UTC]

I make my patterns out of paper. There is nothing molded aout them really.
It's quite tricky to explain.. It's the same process with which I made the Horned Helmet [link] for instance.
It's mostly just a lot of circles sewn together so they make a ball shape.
It takes quite a lot of effort and puzzling, but eventually it just works.

Quite a crappy explaination. Hope it did you any good!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

strg-alt-entf In reply to Lynfir [2012-10-28 20:45:32 +0000 UTC]

Hay.

Thanks for the crappy explanation.
But what I meant was not the shape or pattern with my question.
I meant the way in which the lines are in the leather "Influenced".
Unfortunately I can not say better what I mean exactly. An example of a variant of how I would do it would be this: [link]
(Yours is darker and edgier.)

I hope you understand better now what I meant.
