Description
This is my take on Sabriel from Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy. Just read the first two books a while ago and just starting on the third one now. I've enjoyed them very much so far.Oil on illustration board.
Edit: I took the oil piece, scanned it, and did some touch-ups in photoshop. Hope its still winner. (if it was in the first place)

Love the picture, but when I see it I don't see Sabriel, I see Lirael in the library (without the Disreputable Dog). I appreciate its an artist interpretation and a beautiful one as well, but Sabriel is described as having fashionably bobbed hair etc whilst Lirael has long black hair and to me the way you've drawn her facial expression really captures the solitude that Lirael has to deal with and her pain at being different from the Clayr and feeling alone.ย

This is a beautiful rendition of Sabriel! I loved those books as a kid, and your take is gorgeous. I really like the yellow and teal color combination. Great design.

I like the mood of this. I like the whole piece but in particular her hand looks very realistic. I salute you.
I have read the series btw. I always imagine Sabriel to be quite thin to the point of skinny, but I like how she looks here.

I love this picture!!! I think it captures a lot of her personality, and the colour usage is perfect. I always imaged her with short hair, but sleek long hair suits her too

Sabriel was my favorite; book and character. You have captured her quite well here. Great details on her belt of bells, book, clothes and background. Her face seems just a bit off, but I still like this.

This painting is very good, carries over a few emotions and has a all in all gothic or dark winters morning feel too it. Great job, I haven't read the books but now I feel I must give them a look ^^.
