The MT-0X8 'Gremlin' is the Administrations anti-armor 'infantry', and perhaps the most odd example of Administrations robotics. The story is as weird as you'd expect. The Administration needed an infantry based answer to armor. The Administration have tanks of their own true, but they were expensive and couldn't be everywhere at once. Sending human troops was out of the question since they had such a limited population, and only a fraction of that is willing to serve in the military. As usual an attempt to modify the Clanker was attempted and failed, the Clanker is simply an easy target and the missile launcher lacked punching power. The Stalker has the speed, but could not mount heavy weapons without slowing down, thus making it vulnerable. When designing a new bot from scratch, an engineer had a eureka moment.

The Gremlin is a very weird bot. Its a quadruped design. It has two optics, the 'head' underslung beneath the body, and the optics on the weapon. The weapons is a heat based energy weapon, effective but requiring close range. The Gremlin is the size of a small dog and while not as fast as the Stalker, that's about the only infantry unit that can outrun it. One would wonder as to how such a small droid could threaten an armored vehicle, or power what has been dubbed the 'heat ray'. One factor is that most of the Gremlin's body is mostly comprised of its power source. It has a power source that equals and even rivals the batteries of larger battle droids. While it is still not sufficient for the heat ray to just boil away armor in seconds, in can still burn though armor and reach vital components.

The Gremlin borrows a little from the simulation program. While it does not mimic a specific animal, it does use the theory behind insect models like ant's and such. Specifically it uses swarm tactics. The Gremlin is not individually powerful, but the only really expensive part of the Gremlin is the heat ray. This means that the Gremlin can be fielded in vast numbers. And while it will go down quite easily, its speed and small profile does add some challenge to killing it. Paired together this means that a fair few of them will reach a target, after that its death by a thousand cuts. The Gremlins will slowly cut thought the vehicle at all angels till either the vehicle stops moving or (more likely) explodes.

In terms of its relation to its human comrades and commanders. The Gremlin lacks the affection of the Stalker drones. And lacks the dimwitted reputation of the Clanker. Most just view them as little more than tools of war. Engineers are however reported to hate these things due to the shear number of Gremlins that need their specialized attention. In fact maintenance of Gremlin swarms is a common form of punishment amongst the engineer core.
