Description Eating worms and bugs of the forest, creeper is cursed to suffer eternally. Once a powerful elven sorcerer, creeper is now cursed to roam the forest as long as the forest remains. With no memories and no understanding who he is or was, his emotions are still intact and he is drawn to his home and his past. Elven city is a place of neverending sunlight that causes excruciating pain to creepers almost blind, sensitive eyes.

Often he stays at the edge of the sunlight, feeling pain and emotions he cannot understand. Pride and greed long gone, creeper remains, forever feasting on dirt that he is.

I like the lightning on this. Fine story also. But that thing at the left side emerging from the ground looks like an erect cock.

Glad you like it, thanks. And I agree about the statue looking a bit too phallic. It wouldn't pass my QC check nowadays. (Actually probably none of what's portrayed would)

that is an outstanding story, it's very powerful! out of curiosity have you any thoughts as to why he was cursed in the first place or who cursed him?

Glad you like the story, thanks for dropping by! As to why he was cursed, it's up to your imagination. Probably too power hungry and ruthless, willing to go to extreme measures. Blasphemer and tyrant for most, inspiration for selected few.

Glad you like this one! Thanks. Man please tell me if I do something you don't like, I want to understand the perception of others as best as I can. If something I paint is ugly or off just lemme know.

Great piece. Lighting work is just superb. Amazing how you did such a great work in just two hours. Productivity like this is rare, and well seen by concep art managers/directors/employers.

Creature joints, overal angle (looks like it is viewed from back and side at the same time to me) and "butt roundness" could be improved.

Great feedback again man! Thanks. I have to say my productivity would be 10 times such if there was something bigger I could work on. I'd love to create an entire universe if I knew it could be put to good use. And that I wouldn't starve. About the form of the creatures butt you are absolutely correct, form and perspective still don't come quite naturally to me and these two things are something I still have to think about while I paint. Thanks again & take care man!

You're welcome man. You'll naturaly improve, like you did before, and I'm looking forward to that. And thanks for sharing your work, it's cool and inspirational.

Like a videogame concept art work set for example? Like tell a story with concept art/painting. That's awesome.

No need to thank me, I thank you, it would be pretty damn boring here without feedback.

Ye, like creating the universe from the scratch. I've been having ideas for games as long as I can recall, it was one of the reasons I started painting.

That's cool, I really dig games/ game development too, and I'm Business student because of that (not only because of that, my art taste is too broad to be tied to only one form of art, but videogames surely is one that really got my interest), but I'm not a paint,2D/3D art or a programmer guy, I'm more into planning (Game Design) and direction (Game Direction).

Thanks man! I had a mindset like yours 2 years ago... basically there is an infinite amount of ways to make something look good, just find something that works for you. There is certainly not one correct way to paint something. Keep trying and you will find something that works for you. Greetings to Singapore!

Great job, I liked both the painting and the story.
Kind of made me think about a game concept I wrote up last night, as part of an assignment on postmodernism. It was about the world "as people think of it", or "the world of the collective unconscious" bleeding over into our world, and you, the player, had to influence how people thought of this other world. If it was a creepy place, monsters like the creeper would start crawling out of scary places, like dark forests, but if people thought it seemed like a nice place, its influence on our world would be positive. If they stopped believing in it att all, it would go away.

Nrekkvan In reply to wwklnd [2011-01-09 08:17:03 +0000 UTC]

That's is a very nice concept and reminds me of the Silent Hill series, which is basically characters vision of hell. Good you played the F.E.A.R man, good for you, along with S.T.A.L.K.E.R basically the only modern FPS I had fun with. Get the expansions, they are decent and dirty cheap, at least here. The sequel isn't bad but I liked the 1st one better, mostly because of in my opinion better combat.

wwklnd In reply to Nrekkvan [2011-01-09 17:35:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it was partially inspired by Silent Hill, as well as the World of Darkness and Unknown Armies tabletop RPGs.
I actually bought STALKER when I visited my mother over the holidays, as well as Clear Sky. I played the game for a while when it came out, but it didn't get along well with the computer I had then. I'll probably start playing it again as soon as I've upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7... which I really should get around to. I've gotten a free (legal) downloaded copy of Win7 Pro through the University, but I've never really gotten around to backing up savegames etc.

Nrekkvan In reply to wwklnd [2011-01-13 15:22:18 +0000 UTC]

1st STALKER will run on just about any PC made in last 7 years, get it to work, it's worth it. Just update video drivers and install the latest patch and don't use no dvds. Although I'd recommend getting a cheap gaming video card (like GT 240 or Ati 5670) so you can max it out. Effects are frigging nice. Dynamic shadows, wet surfaces, bump maps and whatnot.

wwklnd In reply to Nrekkvan [2011-01-13 15:42:31 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, the one I had back then was a gaming computer from 2004. I can't really remember, but I think STALKER conflicted with some piece of software or other. It died on me in 2008, so I bought a Dell XPS M1530 laptop, which has served me well since then and can handle most new games on mid-high settings.

Great point. After I was finished with lightning I was like uhm, shadows or not for the shrooms. Finally I decided that it's too minor for anyone to notice. But it wasn't, thanks for telling me, that's some great feedback. Mushrooms now officially have shadows thanks to you.

Haha, there's always someone who notices small things like that
As for the story: Reads like a combination of a coreling (from Peter Brett's Demon Trilogy [one of the best fantasy novels I read!]) and some other story whose name I've forgotten ... Now where have I already encountered that theme/motif? hmmmmm

Humankind is repeating itself because ultimately there is nothing else to do. I just feel like talking smart because I had a very weird night and morning that I don't really understand as of now.

I know I was thinking about Jon Irenicus from Baldurs Gate 2 when I was painting, but he was not really cursed in similar manner. Cool game & cool story though, my favorite RPG ever.
