You can, but the process of doing so is so long and drawn out it leaves you wondering whether it's worth it. And then there's the matter of having a range to shoot on, or even finding the rifle you want in the first place. Most people just end up sticking to airguns.

I have one of these as well, almost got an FR7 because I like the bent bolt better than the straight but the FR7 cannot take full power 7.62 nato because it is small ring 2 lug unlike the FR8 which is large ring 3 lug mauser which can handle the high pressure load of the nato round. So I got an FR-8 instead, plus the are more desirable than the FR-7.

Yea the FR7s are built on small ring mausers. They are not particularly strong.
