So...what the heck is this? It's actually one character I did for the "30 Characters Challenge"--you can find the site by clicking here: [link]Basically, it's a female version of the legendary Sun Wu-Kong, or Sun Goku, the Monkey King. The story behind the character is that she's a grad student who discovers Goku's staff and golden headband while in China, so she dons them and becomes the "new" Sun Wu-Kong.
Yeah...it is a bit weird, but I had a lot of fun creating this character. I like it, so...
Hand-drawn in Carmine Red pencil, and colored in PhotoShop.

I actually like the piece and did enjoy Paprika (tho people I knew hated it), and this tribute is just cool looking especially the blur of the stuff in the back - great work!!

Thanks much! I loved PAPRIKA--even caught it twice in the theater when it ran in NYC. There's been a debate about whether it's better than INCEPTION (since both deal with dreams), but I liked both films, so...

I like how both movies as well, yet, both have their own "rules" in each dream format, but dunno which I would prefer (will have to re-watch Paprika, to be certain). If i had to propose a choice, I would probably go with Paprika, due to all the imagery.
In any case, loving the stuff you're doing, and can't wait to see more of your 30 characters - probably should have you draw my twins as 2 of the characters LOL great stuff and hope to get you a scan of that AWESOME twins drawing you did for me - been hectic here (barely getting posts done here).
