Description Apaches are interesting aircraft. They are one of the most technologically advanced helo's in usage today. That means some geek has to know how to work all of the electronics. I am not one of those geeks. Someone apparently forget to meantion this.

I show up an an Army airfield wondering what the hell I'm doing at an Army airfield. They explain that they need someone to teach everyone how to use the aviation radios. Trying not to panic, I jump into a nearby helo and try to figure out the radios. Eventually, by screwing around with panels, switches, buttons, knobs and other devices, I figure out how to work the radios. Somewhat.

I did ask the instructor pilot, apparently my guide that day, what a specific panel did. He just looked at me for a bit, shrugged and said he didn't know. "Uh, what do you mean you don't know?" Apparently everyone had been wondering what said panel did, but no one could figure it out. I got rather nervous that a trained pilot had switches and knobs that he didn't know.

This photo is me working with some of the communication panels and devices in the Apache. How confused do I actually look?

These are beautiful aircraft, though it's too bad they canceled the Comanche.

This wouldn't happen to have been taken at the Indian Town Gap, would it?

Commanche had good and bad points to it. Massive cost overruns, of course.

No, it wasn't at FtIG.

Believe me, I have a ton of stories that'd would not be assuring.

Like the time I changed the tire on a 727, as I wanted to get the hell out of a third world country in a hurry. Mind you, before then I had zero experience with repairing 727's. I swiped a bunch of spare nuts and bolts, showed them off, and declared "Gee, I found a bunch of extra pieces. Think they're important?"

haha, well I guess some of those planes practically fly themselves, maybe we all won't die

There is a high margin of error possible, yes. Besides, it's not as complicated as people make it out to be. All it requires is plenty of practice.
