Description
Meet Sir Percival Blakeney, the Scarlet Pimpernel; and Paul Chauvelin, from the French Ministry of Justice. This particular portrayal of them is from the TV series of the Scarlet Pimpernel featuring Richard E. Grant as Percy Blakeney and Martin Shaw as Chauvelin. Both fantastic actors, of course. Robespierre, played by Ronan Vibert is also very good...I may have to paint him as well. The series itself is highly entertaining, and the fact it was filmed in Prague makes the setting look just right for the time of the French Revolution.I've specifically gone for a very painterly sort of look in this one. The original picture I used for reference was a random one I found on the internet.

I usually don't like programs like this but because I LOVE Richard I had to watch it and you know what? I loved it! not just because Richard (although it was mostly that) but it was an interesting story and i liked all the characters. That's something that happens rarely for me.

I agree that that is an issue in general...there are many artists I've seen on this site who don't get the attention they deserve, and then some others who just, within five minutes have 1000 comments for a single picture. I've noticed that in my case by far the most attention has been drawn to my Warcraft fanart, because it's a popular subject, whereas much of my original stuff is relatively neglected...but well. I guess that's just how it goes; I'm just grateful that anyone has commented in the first place. ^^

Hehe thanks. Yeah, I though the cravat(s) turned out quite well. It's so good in the series, when Percy goes on a big rant about how important and how great a sign the cravat is, seperating the wealthy from the 'merely ordinary' ^^
