Description
Hawk 2 fighter
A development of the proven and versatile Hawk multirole fighter, the Hawk 2 improves upon its basis with more powerful reactors, a more aerodynamic profile, more powerful engines, more shield projectors, a purpose-built 150mm main gun, and a third FA-6 Talon 40mm autocannon. The age of the original Hawk had shown itself towards the end of the Second New Telerenn Civil War, where an over reliance on parts designed for interchangeability and cost-effectiveness resulted in sub-par performance against improved New Telerenn Republic designs. The Hawk 2's main gun, for example, rather than taking the gun directly from a Nadia R2 main battle tank, was designed ad-hoc for installation in the fighter, with weight reduction, recoil reduction, and compactness in mind. The Hawk 2 is also considerably more survivable, with thicker armour and additional forward electron and neutron shielding, while the cockpit serves as an emergency life capsule. As it enters service, the Hawk 2 has quickly gained a reputation surpassing even that of its predecessor.
