Update on an old OC. I don't think the influences are hard to see on this one. did the art, the character itself and the writing are mine.

Background: Dr. Shinpi Amano is a researcher into magic and into technology, robotics more specifically. Shinpi himself comes from a relatively poor family and lived with his father. His father before him was a researcher into magic and robotics as well. His dedication to his craft is what caused his wife to leave him, leaving Shinpi and his father alone. Contrary to what one might believe, Shinpi and his father remained quite close, even after being left alone. Sure enough, his father’s discoveries and inventions were able to gain his father more fame and help the both of them get off their feet. Shinpi idolized his father enough to jump into the same field as him, learning what he could before his untimely passing. However, Shinpi wanted to keep his father’s memory alive and, from even a young age, continued his father’s research in his place, becoming a big name in the world of research in Val Meredia.

However, his fame and glory wouldn’t last forever. Shinpi began trying to reach greater and greater heights with his inventions, and he attempted to create a new system to power robots with mana, which was simply named the Mana Drive. If it was a success, Shinpi believed he could further develop Mana Drives to even help humans heal from fatal injuries (within reason). However, the Mana Drive overloaded the robot and caused it to go berserk, harming many people and causing heavy collateral damage in the process. As a result, Shinpi’s name was dragged through the mud and any awards he had won in the past were taken away, and Shinpi had effectively lost everything. He was shunned by everyone and treated like a maniac for his attempt at helping others. Naturally, Shinpi was furious. He didn’t want his research to die out because of others. So he began using unjust methods to continue funding his research, which involved robbing places using his machines. Believing Mana Drives were the future and the best way to benefit the world, Shinpi developed a desire to take over the world and, at his core, he still had the best interest of others in mind, even if his actions are not good.

During his exploits, he’s encountered and helped a number of people, those same people supporting his goals now, further proof that Shinpi, at his core, does ultimately want to help others, but believes he is the only one capable. His exploits and genius eventually reached the ears of Xander Klein, the owner of the Crescent Moon Mage Academy. Believing that the two could help each other, Shinpi with being provided funding for his research, and Xander for having more hands on his research team and another teacher at the school, Xander offered Shinpi a job. While initially hesitant, Shinpi agreed, believing it would be a nice, temporary stunt to further his own goals.

Personality: Prior to his accident that cost him his career, Shinpi was a kinder man, interested in helping others through his research into robotics and magic. After his accident, he has become arrogant and rude, believing his research and inventions to be perfect in every way. He can also be seen as somewhat crazy to a degree, due to his delusions about ruling the world. Ultimately, however, he still has the best interest of others in mind, still truly wanting to help people through the use of magic and technology. As a teacher, Shinpi is strict and likes to drone on about his life and his future plans. He views Aaron and her roommates as slackers and tries to regularly get them expelled, but like with his world ruling illusions of grandeur, Shinpi does care about all of his students and does want to see them do better. Despite his desire to rule the world, and his less than ideal methods for funding his research, Shinpi does have limits on how violent his methods are. To that end, Shinpi will never go out of his way to kill a person.

Abilities: Shinpi has an incredibly high IQ and is a genius. While he is a poor fighter on his own, his inventions serve as his main method of combat, ranging from beam weapons, magic powered traps, or sending his endless number of servants to do the fighting for him. If that isn’t enough, he has a suit of power armor he can wear if he must go into a fight on his own. And if THAT isn’t enough, he has any number of various machines he can pilot into battle.
