One of my oldest OCs, and a main character no less. I never got around to asking for a proper ref of the guy until recently, so here he is, with his updated background.

Background: Ryuunosuke’s family was an odd one, to say the least. His father was a professional boxer turned Henshin hero, his mother a henshin device-using thief, and his sister a gearhead who liked to tinker with technology. He seemed to get his father’s genes the most, as unlike his mother and his sister, he wasn’t as magically attuned as them. This was a fact he was often teased about by others around him, because of the nature of the world around them, having a weak aptitude for magic was often considered an abnormality. To make up for this, however, his father made an effort to teach Ryuunosuke how to box. If he couldn’t rely on magic as everyone else could, he wanted to teach Ryuunosuke to rely on his body and how powerful it could become. Unfortunately, Ryuunosuke was a poor learner at first and a sore loser as well. He felt as though he was a lost cause and wanted to give up on training himself. And he likely would have… if not for his father making a sacrifice for his sake. During one of their unsuccessful training sessions, the city they were living in at the time fell under attack by a masked villain riding a chimera, an illegally created creature. Ryuunosuke’s father was able to drive off this masked villain and defeat this Chimera, though not without the cost of his own life. This left the Sato family devastated, and it particularly affected Ryuunosuke in a heavy way. He didn’t want to see anyone in his city cry again, let alone those close to him. Even if it should break his body, he swore in his father’s honor to become a hero who could one day protect others as well as he did before him.

For the next few years of his life, he spent a great deal of his time training himself, primarily in strengthening his body and becoming an adept boxer as well. His sister had left home some time ago to elsewhere, so much of Ryuunosuke’s time at home was spent around his mother. To no surprise, he cares very much for his mother, which is why when his city came under attack again, he prioritized ensuring her safety before going off to fight the threat. Before he could leave to fight, though, his mother entrusted to him his father’s old Henshin device, believing him to be ready to defend the city. With the device, Ryuunosuke was able to become the second coming of the Magia Henshin, Kaiser Knuckle, and despite some difficulty, he was able to defeat the attacking villain his father had failed to defeat previously. While he was praised and treated as a hero, he knew the difficulty he experienced during that battle may become a fatal setback in later, more difficult battles. He wanted to train himself further to protect those close to him even better. On a recommendation from his mother, his journey to better himself took him to Germany, to the Crescent Moon Mage Academy, where his sister already worked as a member of the staff. If he could master a form of magic as well, both his mind and body would be well trained enough for him to be a proper hero back home.

Personality: Despite his tough and intimidating appearance, Ryuunosuke is a friendly, modest man. He harbors insecurities about his training and his decision to become a hero just like his father was before him, but knows that he has to overcome these fears if he is to better himself. To that end, he can be seen as very duty bound and responsible. He cares a great deal about his family, even if he frequently bickers with his older sister. He has a hard time dealing with women because of his sister. Despite his insecurities, Ryuunosuke is very passionate and confident in his boxing ability. Ryuunosuke is very much a dog person, and in addition to owning one himself (he owns a pomeranian), he loves talking about them with others.

Abilities: Ryuunosuke is one of the stronger male students in the academy, without the use of magic at all, and he keeps his physique up by following a training regime almost every day of the week, even if he feels under the weather for one reason or another. As stated previously, he is an excellent boxer, one who emphasizes power over quick strikes, but has no trouble evading enemy blows after throwing his own strikes. While his magic attunement isn’t very high, he is capable of temporarily buffing his already powerful strikes, however he tries to avoid doing so because of the risk of damaging his arms. His training helps to mitigate this side effect, though. Ryuunosuke also knows how to ride motorcycles, and owns one himself.

In his Magia Henshin form, his overall strength is increased and his magical aptitude is boosted for the duration of his time in the transformation. As ‘Kaiser Knuckle’, his strikes become faster than normal and can even equip different element drives to them, meaning his punches can hit with the boosted speed from the wind, or powerful burning strikes from fire.
