Description
One of the main antagonists of my verse, and I guess you could call him the main one of the first "arc". This bio has kind of been a long time coming but I just haven't figured out where to go with him, but the idea recently came to me and I'm back home from a convention, so why not.

Age: More than hundreds of years old. Looks to be in his 50’s physically.

Background: Xander is the current headmaster of the Crescent Moon Mage Academy in Germany, as well as its founder. History recognizes Xander as a profoundly genius mage, one who is revered by many and is responsible for many breakthroughs in furthering the growth of magic’s potential around the world. However, his real history is anything but glamorous. In truth, Xander is a manipulative, greedy psychopath who only seeks to benefit himself in the search of eternal life, and to be the most powerful magus in history. His journey towards this evil goal started off as a simple desire to get stronger; Xander comes from a family of powerful mages himself and looked up to his father in particular. The two had a good relationship, on the surface. However, Xander held a burning jealousy for his father and others around him. His jealousy led him to intentionally sabotage others as a means of increasing his own prestige and improving himself, rather than solely focus on just doing better. At only 23 years of age, he was already becoming renowned as one of the most powerful mages in his country.

His fame continued for many long years after. However, because he cared less about improving himself and more about foul play and sabotage, age was catching up to him. While he was a powerful mage in his own right, his age was affecting his skill and his ability overall. Out of fear and anger, he began looking into darker magic to sustain not only his power, but his youth. That is when he managed to create his own “Stealing” spell, which allowed him to drain the life force of others to sustain his own and increase his power at the same time. Realizing what he had just discovered, Xander’s greed grew tenfold, and he began taking from anyone that he could… including his own family. Within a year, the Klein family had effectively been wiped out and served as more power for Xander. He had also targeted former rivals, colleagues, even those who believed him to be a friend. As he had effectively achieved semi-immortality by absorbing the life from others, Xander would live for many, many years more than the average human should.

His greed did not end there. During his hundreds of years of living, he married a woman named Charlotte Weiss. Charlotte was not a human, but a cosmic being from another realm. Xander entered into this relationship with her in hopes that he could steal her power as well, believing that cosmic powers would make him doubly powerful. The two had two daughters together, and they were not safe from Xander’s clutches, either. When Charlotte caught onto her greedy ex-husband’s schemes, she sent both of her daughters far away where he could not find them, and went into hiding herself.

Not long after this, Xander had developed the Crescent Moon Mage Academy, as a means of showing off the skills he had accrued over the years through his ambition, and as a means of making students powerful enough for him to use as extra power sources. And sure enough, he did exactly that; his Ace students would go missing some few years after their graduations. And to keep his hands clean of any suspicions, Xander silenced anyone who knew him personally. Xander wanted to make sure he had zero connections with those who would seek to harm him.

He eventually met and made friends with a man named Thomas Brauner, a man blessed with true eternal life. Naturally, Xander wanted that eternal life for himself, so he sought to steal from his friend after gaining his trust over a number of years. He was something of a family friend to the Brauners, even getting to know the daughters of the family, Aaron and Niko, as well as their adoptive child, Ysalia. However, Xander had grown impatient and careless with Thomas. He instead attempted to steal power from one of Thomas' daughters, Aaron, to speed the process up. All this did, however, was set off Aaron’s innate magic power and created a massive light explosion which destroyed their home, killed Aaron’s mother, critically injured Niko, and supposedly killed Thomas too, or at the very least incapacitated him. Realizing how massive his flaw in judgment was, he took the then unconscious bodies of Aaron, Niko, and Ysalia with him. He tampered with the memories of Aaron and Ysalia and made them believe he was their father, and effectively wiping any memory of Thomas from their minds. As for Niko, he had her put into stasis, planning to use her as a weapon of his own when the time was right.

Personality: To put it bluntly, Xander is the worst traits of humanity in one tall bundle. He is 100% self-centered and greedy, seeking only to do things if he believes they will benefit him or keep his cover in check. He has no problem making it clear that people are only tools to him and has even less problems discarding them when he feels their usefulness has expired. He is also incredibly ruthless and cruel, taking great pleasure in taking the lives of others when he deems it necessary, and making it painful for the other person as well. If there was any humanity in his heart, it disappeared a long time ago and was replaced entirely with spite and greed. In regards to Aaron, Ysalia, and any of their friends, or any of the students at his academy, for that matter, he only sees them as a means to gain more power, Aaron especially. To that end, Xander does take great care in making sure not only is Aaron well trained in becoming a more powerful mage (thus becoming a bigger source of power for Xander himself), but also making sure he has backup plans, in the form of Ysalia and Niko, or spies working for him in secret. Xander has no problems manipulating others too, hence the spies, as well as neglecting to tell the truth about the forming of the Silberkreuz, the organization that directly opposes him.

Despite all these negatives, no one is any wiser about Xander’s true personality or intentions, other than Ysalia or Shuri. Xander is a deceptively good actor and hides his true intentions under a smile and a calming air, reminiscent of a treasured family member.

Abilities: Xander is one of, if not the most strongest mage in all of Germany, both because of stealing the power of others around him, but also because he’s killed off those who could threaten his title even remotely. Xander knows a variety of different kinds of magics and is something of a jack-of-all-trades who isn’t limited to one element or skill. He greatly favors Dark magic, though, and is capable of both combat skills and manipulative skills as well, such as brainwashing, memory wiping, and even the destruction of one’s mind, effectively rendering them in a comatose or zombie-like state. His most dangerous use of Dark magic, though, is a variation of Dark magic known as Void magic, which as the name implies, allows him to make use of voids both as forms of attack and as transportation. Using these voids offensively allows him to effectively “erase” whatever he chooses to attack, whether it be solid objects or people. Where the erased objects go, not even Xander knows, but opposing Xander is dangerous nonetheless. In addition to that, Xander is a master manipulator.
