Background: Makoto is a detective in charge of her own office who, like Yuuka Mishima, works for the Church of Tristianna as one of their investigators and happens to be partnered with Yuuka herself. She even has a similar background to Yuuka, both being unfortunately orphaned at a young age because of their parents being taken from them at a very young age. Unlike Yuuka’s case, however, Makoto and her family came under attack by daemons, which were widely believed to have been wiped out prior, with the exception of some stragglers. While Makoto’s parents could not be saved, Makoto herself was rescued by Leona, the founder of the Church of Tristianna. After her rescue, Leona took her in, not content with just leaving a child to fend for herself. She raised the young Makoto and taught her both about magic, and the threat that daemons posed to the world, as well as what the church’s intentions were.

At some point later, when she was older, Makoto was permitted to leave the church, as Leona had no intentions of holding her against her will. Returning home to Japan, Makoto became a detective’s apprentice for about a year, getting particularly close with her mentor, seeing him almost like a second father, once again mirroring Yuuka’s connection with her own older male figure. Unfortunately, like with Iori and Yuuka, Makoto lost her mentor during an ambush during an investigation. Unlike her first rescue, Makoto couldn’t rely on anyone to save her this time, taking matters into her own hands. Makoto took the item that her and her mentor were investigating and transporting, that item being a Cyber Magia device, and transformed herself, making use of the powerful new form to do away with her attackers swiftly. However, because of the Cyber Magia device being a heavily and illegally modified version of one, it put heavy strain on Makoto’s body, who had not yet used one prior, let alone an illegal one, and forced her unconscious after the battle. She awoke in a hospital the next day, and as soon as she was back on her feet, she went back to her mentor’s old office, taking it in her mentor’s memory.

Receiving a call from Leona back in Spain, the two discussed the nature of Makoto’s recent succession of the office, as well as her using a Cyber Magia device to transform. Leona presented her with a job offer and a means of training her body to better use these abilities, both of which Makoto happily accepted, if it meant she could prevent the loss of more lives to daemons, or those who would like to abuse either magic or forces well out of their control.

Personality: Makoto is a cool and collected woman around others and during work, for the most part. She has moments where she loses her composure and may act on impulse, but for the most part, she likes to think things through and be careful with each decision. However, she has her moments, more often than not, where she prioritizes her own fun over appearing cool. With this in mind, she likes to “let loose” every now and again during a fight, showing a sadistic streak, though this is mainly in part to her Cyber Magia device affecting her personality from repeated use. She’s also known to be a flirt. Despite her frequent squabbles with her partner, Yuuka, the two of them respect each other and can count on each other.

Abilities: Makoto is a competent enough detective thanks to her training under a master detective for a year who is capable of solving cases on her own now. She was taught by Leona how to defend herself without weapons, having a combat style that emphasizes power over style. However, with weapons, Makoto is a surprisingly good marksman with a handgun. While Makoto is able to use magic, she prefers not to, relying more on her skills overall to keep her safe. She does not possess a main element and knows basic magic.

Her Cyber Magia form, known as the “Virus” form, grants her the use of a powerful arm cannon which can charge up its energy attacks for an even bigger bang. She is capable of stealing data from enemies and using their own attacks against them, daemons and humans alike. She can use the device on her arm to apply a virus debuff onto enemies that can affect one’s stamina or even drain their life away. That same device is able to summon items or familiars to fight for her, so long as she possesses data of the desired copy item.
