Though not really as no photo references were used in the making of these pitiful attempts...
They're all looking rather flat. The palettes behind them are still missing some of the colours which I forgot to add as I rendered because I is fail
I have three more, and so far they're going much better. They already have far better contrast and depth than these three. I was going to fix these up but I feel like that negates their purpose. I want to be able to see the improvement in them, I suppose.
No more art challenges for this year, I didn't think it was very fair over the holiday season as most of you finally have a break from college to recharge your batteries. So we'll pick up again in January! This is just my own little practice, but feel free to join in if you'd like to (:
Also, why is there no 'study' category?? That strikes me as strange coming from a site that is widely used for learning

Do you mean am I going to completely render them? I'm not sure yet... I do want to practice drawing hair a different way though, so they'll probably all get some wigs xD I should really practice eyes and lips too though, so they probably will end up completely finished xD
She's not one of my characters, so far she's nameless and faceless. But I am slowly falling in love with her, so if I can pick which skin tone I love the most once I finish them all, she may very well end up one!

I think it look really good, slightly flat but some artist use that style in their art on purpose... a more cartoony feel. Could be usefull.
Especially like the darker skintone on the right...

Better contrast? Though they all look good, the dark skin color just seem so.. soft in a way. ^^

Hoping they should be up tomorrow. They should've been up tonight but I had to try and finish making a Christmas present and it took me half an hour just to thread the god damned needle and after a minute the thread fell through and... I suddenly remember why I stopped sewing...

Ohh, yes, I agree with you, they're much easier to realistically highlight and shade. It's funny because every artist I've ever talked to about it has said that darker tones are so much harder and they were so easy for me compared to the lighter ones xD
