San Diego. Spent a fair bit of time in San Francisco when the ship would dock there for a while. And at Long Beach Naval Station for loading and off loading munitions.

at the time I was out there the Haight Asbury district was bustling, and you could get anything you wanted, between there and Fisherman's Wharf. Our ship docked there a number of times for various reasons. I had to be on the ship when we went to Long Beach as I was one of the weapons petty officers. Had to check in the nukes.
