Congrats to the DA user She became my 100th watcher and I decided to do something special. As a gift, I did this special request drawing of her dragon Nebula. The OC's bio is below.

From
Bio: Nebula is one of the ancient dragons that dwell in the deep universe. As protector of the stars, she is able to choose when a star is born or when one will die. Her Black-Hole Bite can send planets and galaxies into a void and even possibly another dimension. Her Solar Fire has the same color as the blue supergiant stars in deep space.
Creating black-holes consumes a large amount of energy and Nebula often has to rest for a full 5 years in order to regain her strength. Her fury attack is known as Explosive Pulsar and has enough strength to wipe out entire galaxies, but this fury is rarely used. Nebula's horns are made of crystal and her collar helps focus her power with her attacks.

Congrats! And I hope you enjoy this

Haha, yeah I was having fun with the effects. The effects on wing membranes were kind of done by accident, but those are called happy accidents

I'm glad I can still surprise people. I guess it's because I never stick to one level in my art and always push myself to get better. An artist is never perfect, and always have room to improve.

And thanks!

Why thank you. I wanted to make sure I illustrated her powers well.

Yeah I know, I just did it in two sittings rather than 8 or 10.

Well, you succeeded with that, I say!

That's a great thing...Right? lol, I mostly spend only 2 hours on a drawing, but I once spend 4 hours. God that's not long at all...

Hehe, yeah that's not too long. I sometimes take two hours just to sketch something out. I'm really nick picky when it comes to getting things just right. For this drawing, I put off the mistakes and fixed them later. Good strategy to save time.

I also read an interview of an excellent concept artist. He said that one thing we have to learn is to not get attached to your artwork. His reason is that the more stressed you are to getting things just right, you end up with a piece of art that actually suffered. When you don't get attached, you end up making a wonderful piece of art and the details come out more cleaner.

I gave that philosophy a try with this painting. I kept working from one piece to the next without stopping. I usually take 10 minutes over analyzing something, or tweaking some piece of the drawing for another 5 minutes. And wow, I came up with something that challenges my 20+ hour drawings. Definitely something I'll keep doing in the future.

I sketch in like 5 minutes ¬.¬'''

Sounds like wise words to me. I might try following them in my next drawing ^^.
Heh, it surely is handy, since 20 hours is really long....
