I've wanted to do one of these for a while. There are a lot of characters I want to draw, but am not quite invested enough in to do an entire lineup for. From now on, I'm going to be clustering these into groups of characters and drawing them together.
For now, have some unicorns. The-Great-And-Powerful-Trixie: laughing hysterically at Tempest's cutiemark
Tempest Shadow, aka Fizzlepop Berrytwist: I will eviscerate you if you don't shut the buck up
Moondancer: (Totally thinks Tempest is hot)

It's a great take on how Tempest could find a place in pony culture that doesn't just slot her into a position in the royal guard. (Also I kinda want to draw her in the outfit from the fic.)

Personally, I don't think she had a cutie mark even into adulthood. She didn't seem like the type of pony to go searching for herself like normal ponies. I think by the end she might have gotten it, though, but I don't think it would look like the example here, personally. Cutie marks don't always represent the character's name (Pinkie Pie has balloons, for example, and Cozy Glow has a chess piece. Absolutely nothing to do with their names).

I love how each one is built differently and almost reminiscent of a different breed of horse. Tempest reminds me of a Marwari, for example, while Trixie makes me think appaloosa and Moondancer is a heftier breed like a Morgan.

Wonderful work. As far as I love the MLP ponies, I enjoy people drawing them looking in a more realistically way. And yet they keep their personality. And real horses do have personalities. Glad to see Fizzlepop here.

Hm, I just noticed, you seem to have given all the mares horns that curve to some degree, while Sunburst, the only stallion, has a straight horn. Was this an intentional form of dimorphism, or was it just coincidental?
Also I adore Tempest/Fizzlepop, ngl; her real name is quite simply the greatest name that anyone has ever come up with, attached to the best possible candidate for it.

Mostly coincidental. I give unicorn characters horns based on personality. Celestia's is strait because she fits the classical unicorn archetype very well. Starswirl will probably also have a strait horn when I get to him. Luna's is heavily curved to fit into the crescent moon motif. Trixie's horn is fairly stubby, because of course it is. Moondancer I based very closely off my old version of pre-ascension unicorn Twilight because they are supposed to look so similar. Then I made her chubby, because she's been sitting in her house reading for years instead of running around saving the world every weekend.
