Description

Inside a lonely, ancient lighthouse atop a heap of jagged rocks high above the crashing waves of the wild sea below, he could hear the howling winds beating against the outer walls of the building, and he could hear something else - just barely.  Beneath the roaring thunder and the ceaseless thumping of the rain, he could detect the sound of something that he could only describe as 'chanting'.  He crept cautiously towards one of the windows and peered out through the rain-soaked glass.  In the distance, just on the edges of the narrow shoreline, he spied a small ribbon-like line of torches gleaming in the darkness, one after another, a ring of cloaked figures assembled... for God only knows what mad purpose and the simple thought of the matter sent an ice-cold shiver down his spine.  Then he heard the rumbling of the earth beneath his feet, and the quaking of the walls around him, and the trembling of his flesh, as his soul tried to leap out of his body.  And it was as though the world itself was being torn open from the inside out.

In case you're interested, here's the original line-art with tones... fav.me/dcfcyq0

Nice job, you never see good cultist works, I think it's because Cthulhu steals the show.

I dig this concept of Cthulhu and its cults. It just seems a fresh take on it, considering the wealth of Cthulhu images out there. The thumbnail looked super metal and was just not obviously a Cthulhu image. Also, I'm a sucker for glowing eyes and what appears to be shrieking.

Awesome! I'm glad you like it. And yes, there are tons of cthulhu images out there and I plan to contribute more and more to their abundance in the future as I have some more Cthulhu-based pics in the works - 1 of them being heavily influenced by 1930s style monster movie posters that I hope you'll enjoy when I finish it (there will be much shrieking in it, I promise)

Great flow, love the moody, almost sickly, lighting. The spread-winged demon in the background is a great addition, it really adds interest and brings the narrative together. For the sake of presentation, you should add a link to the line drawing.

Thanks so much, and thank you for suggesting that - it's a great idea, and I will definitely add a link to the line art in the caption. I really appreciate it!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, but somethimg about it seems a bit off.

I've read The Call of Cthulhu twice, and saw parts of a no-commentary playthrough of The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I only remember Deep Ones looking this way, but I can't recall Cthulhu worshippers being described this way.

Hey, yeah, I know what you mean, and the pic itself is not really supposed to be tied down to any one story or specific details.  It really just started out as a random sketch with no story or aim guiding it, and then went from there. The cultists definitely look more like Deep Ones for sure and in my mind they were originally ordinary humans who got corrupted by the text of the Necronomicon and became Deep Ones during this last ritual for summoning forth Cthulhu.
