The day was just beginning as a lone figure walked through the meadows, his strong steps thumping softly on the green summer grass. His name was Lir, and he was a large mustang stallion, sporting a creamy red pelt with strong muscles rippling beneath. His dark brown eyes scanned the area, taking in this new land. This was it, he was sure. The fabled Cottonwood Valley.

The long blades whispered against him as he passed, leaving his legs glittering with dew. He relished the cool sensation. The morning was already warm with a soft breeze, so a hot day was sure to follow. Good thing he had gotten an early start. Perhaps he could get some amount of distance in before finding a place to rest in the shade.

Lir was a young stallion who had come from a faraway land, traveling most of his life while challenging other stallions for their mares. Sometimes he won, and he was able to enjoy the peace and luxury of a home. More often, in his youth, he lost. And then he was cast out and forced to move on. He was becoming a hardened fighter as a result, and his mind had hardened too. He knew that nothing was to stay. No friendship would last. No mare or territory was truly his forever, and all must be fought for brutally time and time again. After having been driven out of his old land, Lir hoped to find a new start here. He would search for the strongest mares, fight the fiercest stallions, settle in the most plentiful ground and defend it with all he had. The world is his, if he can take it. And he planned to take it.
