It's holidays, so I'm drawing again!The scanner could have been a bit nicer to this, but, on the whole, I'm pleased with it. I enjoy doing high-contrast images. Her hair was a pain, but I think it came out well.
I have a feeling that this is a publicity shot for 'The Big Sleep', but I may be wrong.
Size: 27cm x 33cm
Materials: A3 sketching paper, 110gsm, 0.5 mechanical pencil with #B lead, solid 8B graphite pencil, tissues, cotton buds, plastic and kneadable erasers.
Time Taken: Somewhere between 15 and 20 hours.

*Edit* ~thehiddensapphire pointed out a few problems with the original upload. I'd already sprayed it, but I did what I could. I think it looks a bit better now.

Thankyou! I love getting the subtle tones in skin. It can be a fine line between getting it to look like the subject and failing, or between smoothing the shading and going too far and loosing all texture - but it can be rewarding when you get it right.

yeahhahaha i finally get around to cleaning my message box again .. huu lately i had uni exams (just like you i am sure) and although i didnt study i just generally slacked off with everything ._.
hmm the tiny details really caught my eye as soon as i look at the full-view version .. the very soft strand of hair at her temple and the lighting on her earrings to make it look so round and shiny and the eyelash shadow ... you really do amaze me, allie ^^ i hope that you really enjoyed drawing it because it does look like it was a lot of hard work (as all your drawings do, and i always hope that you do enjoy drawing them because the effort is surely worth it for that sort of result 
hmm my grammar is terrible, and my writing is almost incomprehensible .. no punctuation, no capital letters argh can't be bothered though .. computer does make me so terribly lazy.

I have no exams *gloat* Just lots of assignments. How did your exams go, though? Evil?
Of course I enjoy doing these, even if various parts of each picture nearly drive me demented. Generally that's the hair - the one I'm working on now has LOTS of fluffy curls against black. But I'm perservering! And I like to put in details. They bring the whole picture together, even if they can't really be seen from a distance.

Wow, this is just gorgeous. She's so beautiful, and this lighting is so flattering! What I love most about it is, although it's quasi-photographic, you can clearly see a certain degree of stylisation that sharpens certain lines and makes certain features more defined, or less, to pull the face together in a dynamic way. I don't know if you did this consciously or it was your instinctive skill, but it's really successful!

That's true, it does dissapear, but only due to the high contrast of the image. You can find the photograph here: [link]
The difference between nose and cheek was so slight that I just igorned it and went for the 'minamilist look'
