Description One of my favorite exhibits is the Lorikeet exhibit. Unfortunately Indianapolis removed theirs. I had a great time in here! I find these birds so colorful, of course and engaging....of course, they think I have food, which I don't. Still....others did and it was quite fun!

Aww. How come the zoo decided to remove the exhibit?
I'd cry if the Oregon Zoo removed theirs. I love these birds, Unless they're trying to groom my eyebrow.. that beak gets a bit close to my eye sometimes.

They removed this exhibit along with several others to bring in a cheetah exhibit. Now, don't get me wrong...I'm excited about getting cheetahs, but not at the expense of losing so many other exhibits, especially the lorikeets!

Aw. Yeah that's a constant thing with zoos. We had to demolish our Alaska Tundra that had grizzly bears, musk ox, wolves, and a few bird species to turn it in to predators of the Serengeti. Our last grizzly died a few years back, musk ox were moved to another zoo, and we moved the wolves closer to the north America exhibit.
I'm hoping we keep our lorikeets. They're in an area where not really anything else can move into it.

At least you didn't lose your wolves! I know it's "progress" but I hate to lose good exhibits, ya know?

Yeah. Our wolf pack that was originally in the Tundra passed away due to old age. But we kept the wolf exhibit and did acquire, now three new wolves.

Ah, so all of these 3 are new then? And the one was recently introduced to the 2 girls? Is that right?

Yeah. Yazhi and Cheyenne came to the zoo in 2008, and Kenai arrived a few months ago.

Yes, I fear peaceful days for Yazhi and Cheyenne are over then.....

Yeah. Yazhi doesn't seem to be letting up any. I almost thought this would happen with them being separated for a period of time, and Yazhi's behavior switch.

It's not easy getting the right focus from this angle.
