Description YURI! =d

18x24 linolium print for school. I was supposed to pick a form of Asian art and adapt it into my own style. I picked ukiyo-e, Japanese woodblock prints of the "floating world"

Here Dew and Waterfall look at a Koi.

This took forever. The carving has left my hands very sore. You can see one of the boards I carved for the lineart here: [link]

I'm not a very skilled carver, so I only carved for the lineart and the inside of the kimono. I painted the rest by hand, like primitive ukiyo-e.

This is gorgeous! I'm moving soon and want to decorate my new bedroom in oriental style and this would be lovely. Are you selling prints anywhere besides dA? Not too happy about buying through them right now.

Very awesome. I have tried in the past to mimic the old style of traditional Japanese painting and it was tuff considering it was not with the traditional tools they use. You really made this your own.
This is very pretty though and I really enjoy seeing it. Their expressions are wonderful and the Koi in the water is a sweet touch.

Lol I went to comment on the wood block picture and the comment didn't take so I'll comment on that here.

I can't believe how detailed your print is! I had to work with plexiglass, so I can imagine how hard it was to work with wood (or was it lynolium? ) . It's still amazing!

I bet the print was too large to scan but I would have cropped the picture without the floor in view...mostly because it gives off a glare in the picture...unless it was intentional...which it looks like it was God I need to shut up.

Anyways. The colors are phenominal! I love the detail you put into their kimono and the individual flowers! Yeah...I absolutely love the kimono ~^^~

ah, cool print!! I like the colours you'ved painted, esp for the kimonos (the colour trasition is neat). What kind of paint did you use? Did you paint it before printing or after printing the lines?

wow I've never tried such a big lino print before... the biggest I've attempted is 6"x 4"...
