Personals
Occupation: Video Games? Video games are cool. And she makes money by betting and hustling. Otherwise she works in the Underground Battle Ring. Nessie makes her earn by keeping both fighters, and spectators from going overboard. If the fighters kill one another, there is tons of legal bull$#*! and less fights, which means less money. Her job is very important for making sure the flow of revenue is continuous. She also determines when a fight has been won. Essentially a referee of battles that go down.
Sort of a secret job of hers is to fix certain battles. If an opponent is making too much money, that isn’t good for business. A little bit of poison can be just what the winner needs to fail.
Town of Residence: Nessie stays around Lumiose. She has a very small apartment but has been known to travel to different coastlines, as she immensely enjoys the beach.
Personality: Deceitful | Extroverted | Spunky | Assertive | Irascible
Deceitful and ruthless, Nessie is bound to piss someone off. Though her good looks and charisma usually keep people from suspecting much of her darker side, her work in the fight pits has hardened her. She doesn’t take crap from others and is more likely to dish it out. She will rig certain fights to bring in the biggest payload as possible, but is also there to make sure the fighters don’t kill each other. A dead fighter means investigations and less money being made. Aside from work she’s actually very sociable and loves video games. Just make sure she doesn’t try and hustle you.
History: Nessie started out as a little shiny Skrelp. Knowing she was different than others of her kind she became very proud and very arrogant. She tended to get what she wanted, whether by charm or by force. Creatures in the ocean learned to flee at the sight of her vibrant purple scales. Her ferocity had become well known throughout her own territory and rather than take a bunch of poison spines to the face, the surrounding pokemon fled. Eventually Nessie needed to find more food since her supply of fish had run out. She moved through the sea snacking on helpless lumineon and remoraid that got too close to her poison spikes. The food was good but she needed to find a place to make into her new home.
Things were going well. Until she chased a remoraid into a fishing net and got caught herself. Trying to get free, she managed to poison the entire catch, killing some, and weakening most. Once the fishermen managed to pull in the net they were shocked to find the fish were lifeless and riddled with poisonous spines. Then they saw Nessie. The crew began to argue over which one of them would get to capture the shiny Skrelp. Not about to become anyone's trophy, Nessie aimed a few well timed water pulses and knocked the crew overboard. The boat was now her's and the Skrelp helped herself to the fish that the crew had caught.
Nessie decided to hang around the coast of Courmaline for a while. There was plenty of food, very few predators to compete with, and she got to poison the occasional trainer that came by. Eventually after making herself quite cozy, she became very territorial and agitated when anyone or anything entered her space. Nessie would go fight pokemon much larger than her to get them to leave. For most, a couple of poison spines to the face was enough to get her point across... literally. Except for one. The Skrelp bit off more than she could chew when trying to take on a large Krookodile. The ground type hadn't even moved into what she determined was her territory. She saw a threat, and approached. Quickly. Biting and spitting poison the whole way.
The Krookodile, Casey, wasn't alone. In fact there were two other pokemon accompanying him. But not really pokemon? They were human but also definitely pokemon? One of the fake humans called himself Jonah and explained that they were a part of a group called Apellon. He told her that she would be able to be like them, human and pokemon at the same time. Nessie weighed her options and after a lot of arguments (from Casey) she agreed to follow them, and from there her life turned around. Also she got legs. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
After getting a Dittech from Jonah, Nessie spent some time learning how to be human and eventually earned a job at Apellon. She started out as general security but was later promoted to the Fight Ring Ref thanks to her spunk, ambition, and ability to provide a little control (through poison or kicks to the face). Nessie spent a lot of her money at casinos because the games were extremely addictive, and later moved to arcades and carnivals because they were nicer to her wallet and still provided the rush from winning. Nessie continues to watch over fights and even takes a bit of time for recruiting. If you want some fast cash, and don't mind getting your face punched a million times, the fight pits might be for you.
Relationships:
Rensley Roth: Technically her boss. She's had little face to face time with him, but through twitter and letters, she's found he irritates her. She feels like he doesn't understand her points and ideas and being someone who tends to get what they want (through charm or force) it bugs her. Over all she respects the Ninetales for his work and admires his professionalism despite her annoyance with the man.
Extras:
Vanessa would probably kill a man for sushi.
She loves games and video games. Tends to go to carnivals and fairs to win prizes. Winning is so good.
Her home is filled with aquatic plants and fish.
Her home is also filled with game tokens, tickets, and stuffed animal prizes.
