The Talor Class Battlecruiser was conceptualized by the same military department that also envisioned the Tornen carrier, hence the ship shares several similarities. Until the completion of the Hutet, the Talor was deemed the most armed of all cardassian vessels. Following the doctrine of Battle-Cruisers of favoring speed and firepower above durability and armor, the Talor is not ment for long sieges or taking punishment (even if it still is a hardy vessel) but to engange quick, damage and then disengage. A quick and devestating ship for flanking enemy formations. Due to problems with ressources, the ship could not engage in the Klingon-Cardassian war and was then delayed until the Dominion War were it saw action on many fronts. Only a handful of Talor were build, with some build but never finished. After the peace-treaty, some of them were refitted as transport ships or scrabbed, only two stayed in service. But, as time progressed, nearing the 25th century, when the pendulum of history swung again into calls for a strong Cardassia, the Talor Class was one of the first templates that were send to the shipyards. Recently, it is estimated that Cardassia can field at least ten of Battlecruisers of this class, perhaps even more since a refit of older vessels is very likely.

On the technical side the ship is equpiped with 10 heavy and 2 mid Spiral Wave Disruptors, giving her, at least on paper, a firepower equivalent to the Hutet with her 6 ultra heavy disruptors. But the Talors Disruptors are designed for a greater angle of fire, hence she shows two rear facing and two side facing heavy disruptors. The ship also features 7 side facing, 8 rear facing and 10 front facing Torpedo tubes. Contrary to the Hutet, the Talor is not armed with tactical missles, nor does the Talor carry other experimental weapons. The ship is, compared to the hulkish Hutet, rather cheaper to produce for a nearly comparable firepower. It is also rather ressource efficiant in handling, since the engineers did not equip her with complex sensory and scientific systems, hence, the Talor relies on operating in a fleet with complementary vessels.
