Well, if they're spreading a view point thats hateful and disrespectful im going to :T this is coming from a satanist pagan as well who is friends with some christians who are actually decent people. But there's so many bad christians its honestly why they probably seem attacked all the time.

Fun fact; a few of my friends are athiests, and one of them, one of my closest friends, actually seems fascinated with religion and all that. It's really neat. I get to pick my brain for information on my religion(what I know of it) and tell it to him from an insider's viewpoint.

this should say telling religious people instead of only christians, im not attacking at all i think christianity is a peaceful religion and i have a lot of christian/catholic best friends, the non extremist religious people are very friendly
but personally im a muslim and at my old school people attacked me because apparently in america muslim = terrorist? im from lebanon, a country where christians/catholics, muslims, and jewish people get along fine. we get along with everyone except for terrorists and the israeli government (personally i think israels people are really nice people, i live in an area with a lot of jewish people and they're really nice) Β just because lebanon and israel have a lot of conflict, but otherwise we get along fine.
and people think because im a muslim im automatically a terrorist that has a knife in my pocket and kills innocent animals and innocent humans. id like to say for the record that is completely false. just like how nazis aren't christians, terrorists aren't muslims. i own 2 bunnies and i love them to pieces, you know? i wouldn't dare think of killing ANYTHING except for a bug (even then i wouldn't kill ladybugs or bees, ladybugs are holy to muslims and bees are innocent)Β
im very openminded, im fine with anyone believing in whatever they want. nobody needs to have religion forced down their throat. nobody needs the lack of god shoved down their throat either. we don't know the truth until we die. satan could be god for all we know, god may not even exist and im okay with that. i just wish people could be more openminded as well. gay people aren't the end of the world, the gay people i know are some of the sweetest people possibly on the planet. you know, if someone doesn't believe in what you believe you don't go shoving it down peoples throats like how the nazis tried to convince people that Judaism was wrong because its not. if your not using religion in a harmful way its not wrong. 7 billion people can't all have the same religion. 7 billion people can't all HAVE a religion.Β
i just want to let this out:
muslims aren't better than christians/catholics. christians/catholics aren't better than muslims. jewish people are not better than muslims. muslims are not better than jewish people. jewish people aren't better than christians/catholics. christians/catholics aren't better than jewish people. atheists aren't better than people of ANY religion. people of any religion aren't better than atheists.
your beliefs don't give you power over people. at the end of the day humans are all the same. we ALL have our own view of how the afterlife is. we all have a beating heart. we all have a brain. we all have blood. we all breathe the same air. we all we bought into this world by and egg and a sperm connecting. so why fight about a silly thing like religion? your religion has no power over other people at the end of the day. if you think it does you're an idiot, its just a belief. your belief might be correct to you, but it doesn't mean it will be right to somebody else.
sorry for the rant Β Β

Agreed! Being open minded actually means you have the belief that people are free to believe in whatever they want to believe in. Although I'm not a super religious person here I do hold some Christian beliefs so it bugs me when people generalize the whole group based on the actions of some morons/radicals. I've met some Atheists/read blogs of a few as an exampleΒ who can be just as closed minded even bigoted with anything to do with any religion.

Agnostic over here. And damn it, just because I'm not Christian or Catholic or whatever you're trying to force down my throat doesn't mean I'm evil.
In fact...
I would fucking LOVE to learn about your religions. All of them. Because unlike other writers, I would rather portray Christians, Satanists, Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, ect. for what they really are:
PEOPLE WHO HAVE VIEWS.
I want to be accurate and have variety, not be an asshole who says "all the Christians are losers" or whatever. I wanna accurately write people's religions with the proper ceremonies. Now, anyone wanna share information about their religion, because I'm interested in learning.

Understand that there is a context there.
A lot of us grew up in schools where we had to "pledge allegiance" in recognition of your every morning, were forced to undergo religious indoctrination, and still live under a government where your religion wields a lot of power in opposing gay marriage, fighting birth control, and waging wars against Muslims.
I'm not "open minded" to letting a religion I don't believe in rule my life.Β

No one's being a blind twat, as you put it in your description. You claim to be an atheist but you don't need to feel sympathy for the other side or defend them just for the sake of being contrarian. The only people who think Christianity is under attack are Christians. Because they consider anyone else saying "happy holidays" is attacking them, and they think teaching evolution in science class is attacking them and not being allowed to mandate prayer to their god in public school is attacking them, and they think not allowing them to spend government dollars that came from tax revenue paid by everyone to put a monument to the 10 commandments on the courthouse lawn is attacking them, and they think that someone putting up a billboard that says "there's no god" or some such thing is attacking them, when for every one of those billboards, they've got 100 up themselves across the nation that tells readers they will and should be tortured forever for not accepting Jebus. If there's one thing Christians have above all else, it's that they can DISH IT OUT, but they can't TAKE IT, and they are completely unaware of this fact, this double standard of theirs, they think things are against them and that they're being oppressed when it's heavily weighted in their favor, because they THINK that things should just naturally be even MORE in their favor. The other day, I was in freechess.org and someone was saying something or other, I don't remember what the original conversation was, but it came to him saying "do you believe in god?" To which I said "no, of course not" (which was already obvious from the prior conversation, I thought), and he said something like "oh, I know where you're going to go when you die". I'm not one to back off from something like that, so I decided to rub it in a bit, I said something like, "yeah, same place you are, oblivion, along with all your friends and all your family and everything you love and cherish" or something over the top. He went on so predictably to get angrier and angrier, insisting that heaven was real and he was going there while I was going to hell and that I was an "asshat" for attacking his beliefs, and I proceeded to rub it in a little deeper that he wasn't getting to me, so I said something like that I felt sorry for him, wasting his whole life on a false promise that will disappear like a puff of smoke, but not really, because I don't feel sorry for all the insects that die brief, meaningless lives either, so why should I feel sorry for him. He soon broke down and demanded I cease with my persecution of him, and why can't I just respect his beliefs and leave him alone. But that's the problem. He started the confrontation by persecuting me. He declared war on me when he told me I was going to be tortured forever for not joining his evil cult. If he wanted to be left alone, he shouldn't have gone on the prowl to attack someone else, and if he can't take retaliation, he'd best grow some thicker skin or stop attacking others. He doesn't get to then insist I'm oppressing him or doing anything unprovoked and then try to fall back on "let's agree to disagree" after declaring war. That's like a mugger pointing a gun at someone and then that someone pulls the gun away and points it at the mugger, and then the mugger is like "why are you picking on ME! What did I ever do to YOU!"

Oh my gosh, I was just talking to my sister about this last night!Β I've had atheists tell me that I need to stop shoving my beliefs down other people's throats (even though I don't.Β I may talk about my beliefs, but I'm not forcing anyone to agree with me), and then they call me an idiot for believing in Jesus and God.Β Oh, and then they say that Christians will never be worth anything to society and that we should all either go kill ourselves or convert to atheism (and he had the nerve to call me a hypocrite).Β
When people talk about the way that Christians act and how it turns them away from Christianity, I feel the same way about atheism because of these hypocrites.Β I told my sister during the same conversation last night that because of the way atheists have treated me, I'll never become one.Β Really, atheists are guilty of the same things they blame Christians for.Β
(also, please note that I'm not trying to offend atheists when I say any of this.Β Just like there are good Christians and bad Christians, the same is true for atheists Β )

Agreed.Β
It's like people hear "Christian" and ASSUME they're evil, bigoted, close-minded people that should go "kill themselves." Β
We're not ALL bad, but the ones that ARE bad don't help our case out much. One person from a specific group can easily ruin it for everyone else, thus the group in mention is stereotyped and then everyone assumes anyone from that group is evil.Β
Sadly that's how it works. One person from any group acts up, then their actions are put into stereotyping, then that example becomes a label for the group. Kinda like how some people think goth people are super-depressed and emo Aren't stereotypes fun? *rolls eyes* Β

lol, I made a group about Satanism some time ago, and one of the first comments I got on it was something along the lines of, "You're just as retarded as any other theist for denying God and worshiping Satan." Person didn't realize what a LaVeyan Satanist was, I guess.
